I need a few days to make a well written summary, which i said i was going to write. I need to get the facts and all my refernces together before i can "dive in". I hear what your saying but at the same time, i dont think it is too much to expect of what i ask. I dont want a conversation, we have plenty of those. what i want is well written paragraphs of peoples overview of the game. It really is asking the quesion can you write this? and the answer can be yes or no. If you can then please by all means and if you cant why would you go out of your way to write something not in relation. you said i have no real direction but i dont see what you mean, i laid it out and the direction is what the writter wants it to go. within reason of course, i dont want you to trail off and start talking about coperations and gas conglomerats.

Just respect the OP.

"The way you currently have the topic opened up as, it will be hard to get going, and even harder to keep going. It's too broad at the moment, with nothing to 'bait' people into the conversation. Nothing is there to get the topic started/conversation going."

what am i too asume of people? its just step Re-evalute, then write a overview. If i can do it, then the next man can. I think highly of those unless they show otherwise. Reguardless i believe that everyone here has the potential to write something grand. I have said, take your time. I didnt wish for this to become another discussion thread; what i wished for was this thread to be something one can open up and begin to read indepth analysis of peoples thoughts on the overall structure of the game. we all have our pro's and con's, some just con's and some just pro's but reguardless i know we have alot to say about them.

As i said before, i want people to open this thread and see well written paragrahs, even if its just 1 as long as its well written.

Of all the things that were thought of me, is it simple to want such a thing?

Essentially you are saying you desire people to write testimonials. Certainly nothing wrong with that.

Certainly not unreasonable, but don't dismiss Tesunie's point. If you try to hard to "isolate" each one, you will stifle your own thread. Having those testimonials certainly can give the structure you desire for your thread, but the conversations, connecting each event, from differing perspectives, will be the tendons that hold it together. And keep it from folding under it's own weight. Too dry, too serious, and your OP will wither and die.

So definitely, put your own together, give the skeleton you wish to use through it, and then listen to Tesunie. Nudge it, take harsher steps when needed, but don't stifle it. This is not our jobs, This is not college, or school work. We are here because it is a game that we (hopefully) enjoy. I get you want it "your way". But simply be flexible. The results may surprise you. And after reading your treatise on the MWO at a Glance, as it were, I may feel inclined to lend a credible piece of my own time and circumstances willing.

Cheers.

Wasn't there another thread that Blood Wolf started where basically everyone said, "It was better before and now its worse"?

Did he just delete that one because he didn't like that answer?

Guess you shouldn't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer.

@Blood Wolf
You might not see this BUT methinks you might have some fascist leanings.
It's a matter of you trying your darnest to hear/read what only you want with no opposing view whatsoever or doesn't fit a criteria you've imposed.
You could say that doesn't mean you have fascist leanings but I've walked this earth for a while sir, and you have all the traits.
I've seen and read your opinions all over this forum and you frighten me.
If you're the future, I fear for for us all.
God help us if you ever get any amount of real power to affect REAL change in the real world.

The game has improved over time.

However, poor development decisions, weapon balance issues, Old Cry eng. tech, lack of graphic elements such as destroyable terrain, lack of free c-bill customization, developers who don't understand how to promote and build a community. Broken promises (Flea, community warfare, 3rd person examples) also the economy system and grind make progress towards goals close to unattainable without hours of play. All these things combined together put the game on life support.

When I ask other people if they want to play MechWarrior online they adopt a wait and see policy.

The life expectancy of a first person shooter is 3 to 5 years. After that a new game comes out that dazzles the community and people move on MechWarrior online just entered that 3 to 5 year period.

While the game is free to play the developers still commit most of the 60 man workforce to tasks that appease the paying community while promoting sales to provoke people to become paying customers. These tasks include a private matchmaker system. While real issues such as the matchmaker that effects 100% of the community go unfixed.

The secretive nature of the development is also a issue. How is someone going to buy a early Clan package when they don't even know how the clan weapons work. This is not closed beta or open beta. Its a live breathing game with development and patching on a 2 week bases.

The lack of enforcement of control of disconnects and sync drops. Grey area exploits of weapon macros and special customization of configuration files. Also hurt the game.

The lack of a proper level based system puts Rookie pilots, and screwballs who disco, and put forth minimal effort scoring less than 100 damage in matches with competitive veterans who have to carry the team (Today I had 1 match were 9 kills were split between 2 people.)

Now people are trying to sync drop more than 3 of the same mech. I one match yesterday with 8 Firebrands. Whoop's so much for 3/3/3/3.

Piranha Games reputation as a mediocre gaming company also does not help the situation with such hot games as:

  • Bass Pro Shops: The Strike (Xbox 360, Wii, Windows)
  • Duke Nukem Forever (Windows, Xbox 360, PS3)
  • MechWarrior Online (Windows)
  • Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza (Windows)
  • EA Playground (Nintendo DS)
  • Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (PSP)
  • Need For Speed: Undercover (PSP)
  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Windows, Xbox 360, PS3)
  • Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt (Xbox 360, Wii, PC)

  • This has given them the reputation of putting forth the minimum effort for the biggest buck. So selling the cash cow off to a better company one with more experience in the first person gaming seems like a logical choice. Instead they plod along giving you just enough content to keep you logging in once or twice in a two week period.

  • All these things puts a great game in the limbo of a Iron lung life support system. All its going to take is one more major screw up by Piranha games to lose the community. Its probably going to be in June when clan tech is released. They can't balance inner sphere weapons. So were just suppose to have faith that the clan tech is going to work out.

may i suggest a poll? everyone loves a good poll and they are always full of the best facts, figures, and proper punctuation. not to mention a good poll will bring about the love and respect of the entire community in just a few simple opinion fueled button pushes. you can then use that data to write up everything and anything you desire. why once, when i was young, i took a poll and it changed my complete outlook on the subject matter. those were the days, i tell ya, a good rocking chair, a cold lemonade, and a good poll to keep me entertained

good idea, but i tried to make polls, and i dont know how. Its sad but true. Thank you to those that gave me a new perspective on the matter of the thread.

If someone can help me out, i wanted to make a poll that had, what do you think of the game currently. I have had the chance to talk with many players and of course the answers are mixed. If some can help make a post that covers along the lines of What do you think of the state of the game A.I find it pretty fun but there are some complaints: B. I think the game has many flaws but there are at least somethings i enjoy: C. This game is crap, no way around that, Too many flaws. I need a poll like that. If someone knows how to start one then please do so on my behalf---Thank you

Where we are at? Here's the answer:

PGI's staying in their nice cosy island, while the rest of us are floundering at sea, "waiting" for announcements from the island which may or may not provoke rage at times.

i wonder what the island reference means. I dont think i have understood that.

(note) on an island means they are distance from however they are trying to connect with.

The island reference comes from something Russ said on Twitter in response to a dissatisfied customer, telling him that the game was in better shape than ever, and that he (the customer) was on an Island.

It has evolved to the point that any customer who used to be happy with the game, but through a course of decisions has become disenfranchised with PGI, considers themselves "On an Island"

It has become an example of how the "Big 3" are out of touch with their customers, and has even resulted in a bit of hubris

Popular conception appears to look akin to something like this though..

What Roadbeer doesn't highlight is that on the Island, EVERYTHING is trying to kill you :)

Seems as if the person with the complaint had a problem with alpha strikes. I know this game was hell before the ghost heat. Even after that there was still a problem but i came into this game straight from playing hours of mechwarrior 2 so i always knew how to handle heat. To this date, I overheat 10% of total matches ever played.

as for the comment i would have definitly disagreed with russ. I dont think i would have made that island comment, as that was 1 post so long ago, actually i dont see a date but i dont think it was recent. True that heat was a major issue but was that not adressed? despite the comment. Now we have ghost heat and those high alpha's are harder to pull off. A high penalty for people who choose to fire more without reserve.

I will say if your gonna take note of the disreguard in russ's post then you should reguard the steps taken to handle the problem of high alpha's.

"Hope so! I've pretty much stopped playing MWO now due to the problems with it so hope something gets fixed soon :)"- they added ghost heat, which up intill now i have never had a problem with. when i build a mech i make sure its efficent. As should anybody, its impossible to think your gonna jam your mech and get away with firing none stop on the felid.

Add another point, if it can be said they dont listen or are on an island. How come they tried to fix the problem even if russ disreguarded him. I can say one thing and prove by actions my concern. They were on an island but they came back. gonna have to think on that.
