love my ember

been running it with an AC5 and 4 MLs since I got it but yesterday I tossed an AC2 on there and while not doing better or worse, I'm torn on keeping it or not. I am pretty good shot with either one, and the AC2 I can keep the firing going at range.

Neither... should be running 4xMG plus 4 MLs. You should early hit 'n' run, and don't get hit, late harvest open targets.

After the Ac2 nerf, the AC5 has acutally a higher range than the ac2 (1440 for ac2, 1700 for the ac5)
While having the almost the same (2.99 vs 3.01) DPS, the Ac2 causes about 3times more heat.

So after the nerf there are two reasons to use an ac2 : 1) not enough weight for an ac5; 2) not enough room for an ac5.

If neither 1 or 2 is the case with your mech, you should never use an ac2 again (unless there are specific reasons your build needs it)

If you love it, you should put a Gauss on it.

well its allot harder to hit mechs at that those distances with AC 5
AC 2 just seems easier to use for longe range even if the range is lesser

here is a fun gauss cicada build ::rolleyes:
and it works

yes i have run out of ammo before

50 shots 1 gauss - 113.6 kph with 4 armour shaved off the legs and 1 point for each torso
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...53ce31b9d57add9

Do 40 ammo and go 120.3 kph
or do 40 ammo and ecm and go slower

Last 3 Jenners that tryed to hunt down my AC10 Spider suffered the blown-off CT syndrome. Pretty sure this little guy will do it even quicker :D

Question is ... do you prefer me killing you in an AC20 Ember that runs 50kph or 3xPPC+Gauss Highlander that also runs 50kph? Somehow I think I'm actually quite nice ...

I would do as a few others have suggested and go with 4 Machine Guns, this will dismantle damaged enemy mechs, while the 4 Medium lasers can still do work.

Mech Norris knows no bounds!

i don't see the usefulness of the MGs personally and if I wanted to run up to things and fight them all the time I'd use the K or A and just SL boat it.

Especially if you're not using ECM - you'd be better off with a Cent D. You could go faster with more armor. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c4f8d80dbf869e9

You could probably make a better build with some tweaking. - and maybe a couple backup small lasers or some such. I've never actually played it as I don't particularly like to play snipers - or gauss.

I remember killing your AC10 spider in a 2 PPC fire starter. Your cheeseball friend in his normal spider stayed under 90 m and finished me. Thank him for that now I run 1 of each.

Quit putting ACs on a" light mech.

How much heat do MG's produce? Couple that with more damage with ML than SL...

Have got 700+ on this mech many many times, do not underestimate the power of the machine guns :)

to fit ECM you would be going below streak kintaro top speed and the speed is quite helpfull
also the profile size is MUCH bigger on the centurion and quite easy to dearm

anyway theres always the 2 ac 2 450 ammo 125 ish kph cicada :(

i think I'm going to switch back to the AC5.

the AC2 was actually quite good. a raven and I took out half a team together yesterday, i think between the two of us, we had more damage dealt than the rest of the team combined.

My play style the MGs just won't do and I'll over commit myself every time and get murdered.

Friend of mine runs a Firestarter with an LB 10-X and one medium laser- still runs about 110 KPH too. Guy has a lot of fun in it, you could try it out if you like.

Personally, I'll stick with my AC/2 and small lasers on a 123 KPH FS9. (I have another Firestarter for close-up combat, don't have a fit.)

i should try it as I have never used an LBX yet.

looks like I could fit it + 2 tons of ammo and 4 SL.

i get 124kph with the 245 and AC2 i think I would waste too much ammo trying to just keep up the fire and since the lowered the range, I can't stand way back and hit people with 4x zoom from across the map and do damage.

edit:
will try this tomorrow.....excited.... hopefully my internet is alive by then.
