So I have to settle for Long Islands!

The way I make Manhattans you'll wish you were on long island.

There's only room for one lock on these forums.

You know what to do.

Break out the paddle? The last time I even seen you in a match I was goofing around on my bro's defunt account, in the worst pug ever yet I made the sure only kill our entrie team scored was... /drumroll... well, you know that outcome.

Lets just say you had a banana shoved up your tailpipe :)

When he got sick of the game because it plays too slow I borrowed it to experiment with how horrible ELO/Matchmaker had become.... and to beat a few dead horses that needed beating until PGI woke up. It just sits unused now so nobody else can use such a cool name. Every drop someone would cheer me on because they love Axel Folley and Beverly Hills Cop. Can't blame them because it's hilarious when someone dies due to a banana in the tailpipe :P

None. This isn't a simulator where we have to manually control each leg's motion, like QWOP with lasers. Boulders already cause a loss of speed ranging from slight to total, both of which can lead to a light mech being damaged. :)

Damage from colliding with buildings/wall/cliffs is a different story. I'm not sure the game needs it, but either way this would be a totally new feature and a different topic.

I don't think anyone in this thread is actually complaining that fall damage exists. They are complaining that it arbitrarily effects light mechs without it making any sense or contributing anything to the game. For instance, on Canyon Network, a crucial part of playing on that map for every weight class is moving from the plateaus to the canyons and back up. It takes a good deal of time and effort to not take damage when slowly and carefully moving down into the canyons in a Locust or Commando. If you mess up, you take similar damage to when divebombing off a mountain (yes, really, it's been tested).

Every mech in medium and above can just hurtle off those ledges without consequence. It's just bizarre. Why are the agile mechs less able to be, you know, agile?

As of now fall damage is laughably weak so it's of no major consequence even to Locusts and Commandos, but it has virtually no effect on anything else. So one has to ask, is it going to be 'buffed' or should it just be cut altogether? If it is increased then serious attention needs to be paid to its (currently terrible) implementation.

Tl;dr: Locust pilots aren't reckless speed freaks, these things are genuinely taking fall damage when walking down shallow hills. Wut.
I have twisted my Ankle way to many times to accept that it shouldn't happen to a Robot moving at 130+ KpH over rough terrain. If you aren't on level ground, you can and should experience damage if you are moving that fast.

Please name one fps where you can take damage or trip from moving over uneven round.

I'm sure Counter-Strike would have been much improved by the bomb carrier slipping on bananas and tripping over cans.

This game doesn't need this. At all. If you could justify light mechs tripping over, you could justify Stalkers landing flat on their noses too. All it would do is add extra complication for everyone and make the difficulty curve even steeper. For zero added fun. Zero.

Name one of those FPS where you are a multi ton robot running up to 150 KpH? I also don't have a problem with Stalkers falling down. I am a equal opportunity kinda guy. :)

Uhh. Look, it won't be any fun for anyone. Apart from you maybe. Playing in a mech is a power fantasy. Part of that is not falling around like Charlie Chaplain. If you want a falling-down-simulator, I highly recommend Gang Beasts. Or real life.

Point still is you are running along at upwards of 150 KpH and slam your foot into a bolder... How little damage do think you should take?

Not much at all, depends on the rock though :) Sandstone? Granite? Concrete?

Sandstone should probably scratch the paint. Granite should dent the fender. Ferrocrete (CBT doesn't have simple Concrete)... Well if a 9,700 ton Dropship can be supported by it, smashing your Mechs shin into it would likely have ill side affects! :P

I want to run over little mechs and make them fall, how about that for a power fantasy simulator?

did any one bring this up but shouldn't the type of leg also dictate the type of damage? I would think a chicken leg walker would have an easier time landing then a standard bipedal person style leg.

Fair enough, it could be interesting. I suggest you start a thread on it if you want to talk about it more. I doubt it'll be implemented any time soon though...
