So you can go around ordering House Bakura around and go on adventures to try and steal the Pharaoh's source of power.

Marik seems closest to the Minmatar Republic, so Marik it is.

I can see the relation between the two but still a far cry comparison. imo

I picked Marik because it sounded more representative of the people than the others, and figured it was a lot less bureaucratic than some of the others... New to battletech, not much freedom going around in interplanetary empires apparently lol. Hard world for a libertarian. And I have tattoos.

The Wobbies are their fault along with the delicious delicious Purifier Suit.

My reason for joining is when i was playing TT in the early 90's that was my house in battle.
Reading some of the lore also leaves the impression House Marik would be the most friendly to "Random Combat Time"

Also, if you decide on House Marik, check the website in my signature. Marikians of all types are joining to put together lances to drop with and build a community. Just trying to get organized for later on.

Be careful what you think. The FWL may seem representative, but the Captain-General has far too much power for that, for the duration of the 'crisis,' which I assume he can arbitrarily lengthen, politically at least. I'd recommend the FRR for a person like you, but I don't know too much about it. And you're right, there's just no place for a person that wants guaranteed freedoms and no intrusive type of government.

If the purple eagle and immense wealth didn't convince you, we have a guy that gives parliament the finger when it needs it. And its parliament, when doesn't it need the finger?

Also, we have the best acronyms. FWLMFTMFW.

So, since most are basing the "allegience" on canon, what are most of you going to do when it is pointed out the Thomas Marik is a double in a few years and not actually a Marik at all?
I have been House Marik since 1992, but if I followed canon, I think would probably have ended up leaving after the FWL Civil War 3030-3037.

Howdy,

As for the Andurien betrayaI, I started my EGA FWL military career with the 6th DoA and moved up the ranks from there. I have always held fond memories of the Andurien units. But, I for one would have fought against them and continued with the Free Worlds League.

Now, as for the false Thomas Marik, he was not discovered until after 3057 and only by Davion. Meaning we as a military personel would not have been privy to such information and would only of heard it as rumors. So I again would still stand with the FWL. I would have to say the only reason I would leave the services of the Free Worlds Military is when the Word of Blake makes it's appearance.

BTW seeing another EGA member is great, I played from late 1992 until it's end and resurrection on GS/AOL. Did you run under the same name or another?

Ran under this name. Your's does sound familiar but being 20 years ago fuzz accumulates. I left EGA right after Judy stepped down from House Leader then came back for the brief stint on AOL. My last posting on EGA was 3rd DOA but on AOL I was in Wolf's Dragoons.

Howdy,

Yeah names are hard to remember, by Judy do you mean Tansy? When I joined Marik I fell right into a Stiener invasion. I remember Dr Death, Black Adder, Dreamer, Maddog, Wizard, Nighthawk and few dozen others welcoming me. Then yelling at me to jump into a mech and help them out. Funny as all hell, I got smoked more times than I dare remember that day. I was the young canon fodder, but when I killed my frist mech I felt great.

I miss the insanely slow bandwiths, I believe I had a 9600 at the time. But then had to upgrade to a superfast 14,400!

Yea, I knew her by her first name because we talked on the phone about troop movements and planet garrisons. Which I hope will be part of the game. like EGA. With these graphics and game engine, and those in game logistics. Thats what made EGA rock so good.
I have a couple guys from EGA in my current gaming guild with me that are coming over. Cannot remember their names in EGA though. One was a Sweiner and the other was a Drac :D
Nerul and Pain both played EGA I am pretty sure.
Maybe we should start an EGA Check in thread

Howdy,

I miss Tansy (Judy), she was a very good person. Met her at GenCon and found her to be even better in person. If Grendel did not accept my offer to become my XO I was going to ask Tansy or one other. She had a sound head on her shoulders and great experience. Have not spoken to her since AOL Solaris after she moved on.

There are a few of us running around here. One of our house's members had a great idea. Amergin (was Grendel in EGA) had the idea of forming our own unit, here is the link.

I still have Fireball and Tanys's Phone #. Once this game goes live, I'll give them a call. I know FB will be interested, but I fear Tansy has moved on.
