Dear PGI, when will you have Missile Warrior Online 2.0 ready for beta? I don't die enough from nanosecond target lock 80 LRM boats. Oooh, I know, you should make a 120 LRM boat with jack heat issues that ganks me hard every time I play. That way I can load up my useless AMS and still get cored in 2 seconds. THAT would be sweet. I keep drizzling cash into this failed counter-strike, because apparently i'm an idiot and keep hoping. As the old adage goes, "Your telling me there's a chance." Can you just update the graphics on MechWarrior 2 so I can play something that makes sense and the programmers don't pull shit out of their collective asses when making mechs?

I hear buildings and rocks are great at stopping LRMs. It appears to work, don't have any AMS on any of my mechs and I have not run my 3L, which is my only ECM mech, and I have only died 3 times to LRMs sense their buff.
So what does that tell you Mr. OP?

For me..killed yes, annoyed no..I'd pay for a module that turns the BANGTHUDBOOMBANDTHUDBOOMBANGTHUDBOOM of constant missile impacts into the sound of wind chimes and smooth jazz, I'd be the most chilled mofo on the net.

OP is letting off steam, just let him and go on.

Missiles might be balanced from a top-down perspective but that doesn't stop them from being incredibly frustrating to fight against or use. I would advocate sweeping changes to the entire LRM/ECM/Streak system simply on the premise that the current system isn't any fun to kill with or be killed by.

However, based on what Paul said, PGI is generally happy with missile hardpoints being very situational in their usefulness and playing second fiddle to the real weapon systems that are useful all the time.

OP, just buy an ECM mech and fit it with direct fire weapons. LRMs almost cease to be an issue.

this is nothing compared to when the angle of descent was change for LRMs, you could not hide.

Now sure we go a little overboard when we see torso crits on a mech. Ok, like the blinders come on and we ignore the locust nailing us in the back.

But, we are LRM boaters and well when we can get a kill, nothing will deter us from the goal.

Try to get help from other players or do what I did back in late 2012 and early 2013, follow the founders.

No...I'm stating that this thread is most likely being posted by someone who regularly plays using an alt account.

How do you know he hasn't played in a long time???

I feel the OPS pain. If the server collects the right mechs, you can have 6-7 LRM's boats on the enemy side. Combine that with the lame indirect targeting mechanic (where if a light mech glances at you, LRM's rain from the sky). And the fact that the LRM's fall on you about 15 degrees from vertical, and you are in for a very unfun match.

I have watched assault mechs melt in seconds in these types of matches. Also, having been the victim of this, the constant rain of so many LRM's, combined with screen shake, and smoke effects, basically grinds most graphics cards into the ground and causes the player to want to vomit on their keyboard.

Considering the tone of his post, his 1 post history and his January 2012 join date, I'm drawing my own conclusions. I've been on enough forums to know about trolls and alt accounts

Maybe if he'd asked for help first, I'd have given him a different response. But coming on the forums and making a trollish type thread with your first post doesn't make people want to help you...so I won't.

He's obviously played MW in the past, has dropped money into the game and knows about ghost heat. Doesn't fit the profile of a new player...

There's hardly any LRM boats at my Elo level. The pros still use direct fire. You know why? Because LRMs are still shit, even with their recent buff. They spread what little damage they've done around all the components of a 'Mech. I don't know about you, but I prefer to kill my opponents. LRM's are only good for killing newbs that stand in the open. What's really sad is that PPC's and AC's are even better at whomping newbs.
