If i could merge hearthstone (lousy, boring game) with MWO (uber battletech awesomeness), i would be a happy camper.

Hearthstone, has a magnificent UI. Clean, totally intuitive, works about as well as can be hoped. MWO UI, on the other hand is some ramshackle thing, that sputters along like a stalker at 21% health.

For starters, when you go to the mech store, if you click a mech, the stats of the mech should be shown! Why do i have to go back to the mechlab just to see mech stats? If im in the store to buy, lemme see the goods! Its like trying to buy a car, but no testdrives, just point one out through the showroom window.

While we are talking about mech lab area, there is a ANNOYING mist at the bottom of the screen that so often obscures the data about the mech. If you cannot change the color of the text so that it always stands out, at least let me turn off the damned mist.

Still on that mech lab area, If we could shift all the wireframe stuff to the left, so we have room to put a smaller but complete mech loadout on the screen at all times, that would be awesome. Just put it to the right of the buyable items (over the mech). I often go to put something on my mech, and i cannot recall what i already put on the mech, how much ammo did i use? Did i put my case in? Do i have room for (x) weapon? If we could see the entirety of the mechs equipment at all times while we rearranging things, it would be sooo much nicer. At that particular point in time, i think it would be fine to cover up the mech if needed, while we are working on its configuration.

Next, this is minor but it kinda irks me. After a game, the three buttons, settings, quit match and exit game. Why are these buttons so tiny? Where is the graphics guy? Have him draw some little pics and make them BIGGER. Needless eyestrain.

As far as game time changes, the maps are pretty much ok for me, some of the outdoors maps could use steeper/gentler slopes to clearly show where a non jump mech can go up, and where he cant. Some of the slopes LOOK climbable, but when you get there, no go.

The crashes, well im sure you will get to those in time, not overly concerned about that kind of stuff.

Thank you for your time.

I agree with your complaints 100% and I am very happy to see that I am not the only one who is annoyed at the mist at the bottom of the pretty picture obscuring my view of the data that really need to see. It seems like a mismatch of priorities. I am sure that the programmers are really proud of the pretty battlemechs they have modeled, but I am much more interested in being able to easily see the information about the mech. how fast does it go? what is the weapons load out? heat management and number of heatsinks? this is the information I want to be more readily available. Yes, the mech is pretty but the real difference between a SHD-2D2 and a SHD-2H is more easily expressed in the raw data than by your pretty picture.

I came to MWO when the UI 2.0 was already in place (so I am certainly not nostalgic here) but I never liked it. When I watch videos that been made before UI 2.0, I find the UI there much more clean and intuitive. I have no experience with the old UI but just from what I have seen in the videos, the old version was much better.

Also all the detailed points in OP are agreeable. Please rework the UI

There will eventually be a Smurfy-like interactive drag-and-drop Mech Lab. They hope to have it in-game before the Clan 'Mechs are released.

Crew -- Mech Lab tab, change the Filter option (upper left part of screen) to Purchasable, find the 'Mech you want info on, hover mouse over it and get the info you're requesting. Yes, it should be in the Store as well, but it's not, so do it the other way.

You guys need to be changing your monitor setup (colors/brightness/gamma) or the in-game brightness/gamma (assuming they work) if the mist is obscuring the stats at the feet of your 'Mechs. The white text is so much brighter, and the grey/white mist shouldn't be obscuring the yellow text at all -- it doesn't on mine. And my text is probably smaller than yours, as I play at 2560x1440 resolution.

WE know how to buy mechs.. this is a thread about improving the UI. Not making excuses for bad code.

As for you telling people how their gamma should be adjusted, now that's laughable. If you were a dev, i would post screen shots showing how the mist greatly obscures the mech data. Maybe it does block at all at your resolution, but at 1600x1050, it blocks a lot (i dont know what resolution that other fella is using.) I'm not even saying get rid of the mist for everyone (for you mist apologists out there), im just saying give people the option to turn it off.

Perhaps you could stick to the point of the thread, instead of being a shill for PGI?

Angry much?

I'm not a shill for anybody, bub.

Problems like the mist are what those in-game controls are for. Adjusting them isn't a sin.

As for adjusting the monitor itself, the vast majority of people take the monitor out of the box, plug it in, and never adjust anything on it. They don't seem to get that the factory settings are never the best -- it depends entirely on your ambient lighting and preferences.

I know for a fact that many gamers adjust their monitors specifically for certain games, like those extra-dark horror type games. That's where seeing an extra-dark black shadow on a black screen can mean the difference between survival and starting over at your last save point.
