I even have Techincal update mechs as well, for example, my CTPL-K2 is setup exactly like a K3

Any heat reduction quirks (if they did any) are going to be the most detrimental to SMM, probably followed closely by the range quirks.

Rapid-fire is a straight buff. Sustained DPS remains the same, but initial DPS increases. Even though you gain as much HPS as you gain DPS, it's still a net gain. It's the same reason that, all else equal (including the number of heat sinks), two ML > one ML. Overall time-to-kill is shortened.
I am, of course, more worried about the AC20 quirks, but these initial DPS buffs are not insignificant, either, even without DHS to maximize the effect.

- Have each person participating be "assigned" a mech. You bring only one mech (if you wish to change, ask I guess), and that's it,
- Don't worry about weight balance. Our own balancing system should equalize skill. Skill in a mech is normally more important than the tonnage of said mech.
- If we are seeing stomps more often than normal, increase switched members to two sets each match instead of one set.
This should lead to a "switch the players for balance, and launch nearly right away". Might be worth giving a try?
