Been enjoying the response thread. I have to say, I haven't seen the MW:O Forums have this much positivity in them in a while. That one thread might cease to exist because most people are happy there.

I know, right?

Really enjoyed the stock matches tonight. Good fights, even if I did have to call a bunch. :D

Sarna.net says the King Crab is Tech Level 2; that right?
Good thing, too (sorry, Tesunie!) -- I can't imagine how a 100-tonner with a pair of IS AC20's could be anything but overpowered in Tech 1 matches. Even the Atlas should fall before that, I think, given how close-range most of the T1 stock engagements are.

Edit: uh-oh. One of the variants appears to be a Tech-1 version of the Prime. I'm not looking forward to seeing boom-Crabs dominating our stock matches.

@Carl Avery,

Keep in mind King Crabs are very slow and traditionally were only used for defending installations or defensive positions, which is normally how they are used in stock TT games. Just keep it at range with stock strats and it'll fall. I guarantee it'll probably have poor hitboxes on its day 1 release (probably massive CT coring).

And about those new Clan Mechs, I definitely won't be buying those out of principal. Clan pack 1+2 cost 360$ which is kind if disgusting in my view for 12 Mechs where-as the olden games its like 60$ for 100 Mechs.

But For my past Founder stuff, at least I get all those other mechs for free to use. They are only useful for stock mode anyways.

Depending upon what ones they release, the King Crab 0000 is all tech one (which is actually my preferred one so far anyway). I'm going to guess that the mech only has the base 10 heat sinks? (Need to pull up my old TROs on it. I know I have them somewhere.) If it only has the 10 base sinks, it's going to be hard pressed to shoot the two AC20s at the same time without overheating. Most likely, it will be forced to shoot one or the other, excluding it's Large Laser when the fighting is close in. Not to mention it's slow speeds and maneuverability. I think an Atlas is going to feel like a ballerina dancer compared to the King Crab, but the Crab will be the King of firepower! (In public matches, it will probably be more capable of standing toe to toe with a Direwolf, not that the Atlas can't and all...)

I thought there was an LBx10 version of the King Crab. Huh. Must have been the LBx20 I was thinking of instead.

I suspect the variants we will see in the game is going to be the 0000, 001 and the 000. I suspect that the 001 will become more preferred by players for it's inclusion of actuators, which could then be complimented by it's already Gauss Rifles, or replaced with pairs of AC10s, or a "Jagermech" twin AC5, twin AC2s. People will use this mech as a ballistic boat. I'll probably blend it with LRMs and ACs myself, almost keeping them all stock, if not stock.

I'm so excited. Now I just need the Crab to be released, and most of my favorite mechs are in the game! (That would be the Crab, King Crab and Stalker.)

I figure the best way to deal with a King Crab will be to stand BEHIND it. :P

That's if the King Crab doesn't have its back up against a wall, IN a Hanger. Then you may as well just call in artillery and long toms and Arrow IV.

I do fear that the king crab will be a magnet for every LRM launched in the match it's in and the match next to it on the server. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to using it. It is iconic and has quite the reputation in lore. Sadly I'm not an assault pilot by any means (I profusely apologize to my teammates when I have to ton up to one :( ), but it will still be fun to play.

I think it'll be fine - it's got 7 shots per cannon.

Scary, but no endurance.

Thought a King Crab Cave Rush would be the stuff of nightmares.

No endurance, and think of the mech's heatscale! AC20s are not all that cool from my experience with a Jagermech, and my Jager had DHS! But anything that sits in front of them... ouch!

Where's the one from the Tukayyid scenario pack with dual Gauss?

1 ton per gun....that won't last long. As much ammo as a 4G and Cent-AH (hurray) but with twice as many guns.

It won''t be using them much, and even the 1 ton for the LRM15 only gives you 12 shots. It will be a LL at one point.

Well, a known issue with the King Crab was running out of ammo and having to leave to restock. We'll just see that play out here as well!

This one?

KGC-001 [3052 - Clan Invasion Era - Tech1&Tech 2] [2 Gauss Rifle w/2 tons per gun, 1 LPL RT, 1 LRM15 LT w/1 ton ammo, 2 SSRM LT+RT w/1 ton per launcher, CASE RT+LT, Ferro Fibrous, 13 SHS] <- Beast Mode King Crab v3

If the game were moddable I would add it in immediately.
