I have discovered that when you buy a new mech, the game automatically assigns that mech a "lucky" or "unlucky" status. This status then sticks with the mech FOREVER.

I know the feeling.
But it's just an anamoly. Sometimes it's just a matter of some weapons not working as well on one variant vs another for whatever reason.
Case in point the 9SE Tbolt. My KDR in it is an abominable .6 That's right .6. That's right down there with the Not Awesome and Locust in my stable. It's victory rate is also deplorable.
It's armed very similarly to my 5S thunderbolt who's KDR is 1.9 (and trending upwards still and the 5S has over 5x as many matches and kills as the 9SE) and yet it also has JJ ontop of it's comparable speed and firepower. I'm not sure WTF is up with it but there it is. (Pre wipe my 5S had a 2.80 KDR.. my 9SE? you guessed it sub 1)

Maybe it's the hotrod paintjob I gave it, or something else. Whatever it is it's pretty obvious that i need to overhaul my 9SE, because it's clearly not performing up to my standards.

If ever a mech is unlucky, then take a break from it. Come back some time later, evaluate the build and the paint, and then try dropping with it again.

Same here!
Some mechs dont want to work. Thats it.
Jagermech 6A and Thunderbolt 5S in my case.
The Jag has a constant K/D under 1(tried so many setups that it is my most played/hated mech, and the TDR is joining it recently in the failsector.
The funny thing is: The TDR was on of my best horses in the stable (KD of 2,97 in 63 pugmatches pre-reset). Since the statreset the Thunderbolt dies in the moment an enemy appears...somewhere on the map^^.

My current issue is with my 9S and 5S. The freebie kicks ass. does a ton of damage, takes a lot of abuse...I suck at heat management but it gets me through the matches. The 5 I just got is terrible. I keep changing setups and nothing seems to work. I went with the 5S because I thought I could run essentially the same setup as my freebie...which I tried...and got ate up. I had one setup running half as many lasers as my freebie and I still shut down every other alpha.

I know it's in my head, but damn me if it doesn't seem to be the case lol

Wow, I play my mechs to have fun, not to influence my KDR.

If and when they launch CW and you are on a team, you won't have to be worrying about your KDR, you'll be more worried about winning or losing.

I don't worry about my KDR, but I do like to win...or at the very least survive to the end of the match. If you check out my general stats I do not have a lot of concern about my standings.

I would suggest to stick with easy build like those:
JM6-A - 2xAC/5 + 2xPPC
TDR-5S - 2xAC/5 + PPC + 3 ML

Just stay out of range and you should have no problems. Every Heavy-Mech with 2 ballistic and 2 energy points can be effective in the current meta.

@topic: With the new launch module coming up the stomps should be much more rare as they are currently so just wait till its here. And if that doesn't help and your mech is still "unlucky" well then try look up some builds online on mechspecs or something. You might find a build which is more "lucky".

trouble double sinks again and loaded up on med lasers and two er lasers and, though I didn't get a kill, we won. Of course it was the combine and it was one of the rare times everyone listened to me about getting on top of the mountain and shooting down...but still...

We all have the issue. I feel your frustration.

For example, my Shadowhawk-5M:
Before Stat Reset
45 Matches W/L = 0.8 and K/D = 32/35

After Stat Reset
31 Matches W/L = 0.55 and K/D = 27/25

Yet my Spider-5K
Before Stat Reset
56 Matches W/L = 1.33 and K/D = 74/29

After Stat Reset
25 Matches W/L = 0.79 and K/D = 36/15

Of which? That I finally had a good match or that some mechs just stay unlucky?

I belife you, that you have a stream of good Matches atm, and even that this happens while you drive a paid Mech, but to be true i think this will Change with Time. As it is happend to me.

So i guess, this Forever, in your opening post, cant be proofen now.

The variations always make certain chassis more or less preferable over the others. Just don't take that unlucky mentality too far or it will effect your game play.

I definitely get where OP is coming from on this. It really does seem that some mechs are cursed... But I find a lot more often you tend to have a case where it's just a crap build and you have too much pride or are simply too stubborn to admit it. "Brawler" builds are a perfect example. Nothing says useless better than having to hug a rock and wait in cover while the rest of your team is playing 500m peek-a-boo. Sometimes what looks great on paper just doesn't pan out that way in live games.
