Negative. Way to difficult to balance, and map size like in the above post.

LAMS were a bad idea to begin with.

There's multiple reasons they'll never be used in MWO, some of which have already been brought up in this thread, such as map sizes, no vehicles, etc.

They won't really fit in with the timeline anyway. LAMs were rare as of 3025, and the capability to build parts for them were completely removed by 3050.

The problem is that a decent LAM would be going ludicrously-fast, and that would either mean that the battlemechs have to walk stupidly-far to get anywhere in the maps, or they'd have a tiny map to fly on.

I like the LAM concept...but that's why I watched Macross. Keep Macross outta me Mechwarrior! The redesigned ones didn't really impress me much but I think balancing maps would be the big issue. Unless they let players use vehicles like Aerospace fighters. Then they would fit right in as middlemen. Sadly I think they don't want to do combined arms and overall I didn't think the LAMs fit in well, the Banshee fighters were similar (aerospace fighters that converted to VTOLs) but fit much better.

I'd take a Mech/VTOL mode option.

As was suggested previously, the VTOL mode would just be a slower burning jump jet and some sort of transition mechanism/animation that also blocks out any weapons that might not be available in respective modes.

Think of the $$ to be made if this was a Store exclusive!
