It is ******* up mech balance. How many Trebuchets do still see these days?

Not to mention the Quickdraw.

They have no meta loadouts. Other Mediums have better options, that's it. Furthermore every newbie gets told "don't buy them", So no surprise when almost nobody drives them.
See the Firestarter, huge for a Light but JJ and lots of weapons, so people play them. It's not the scale, it's the lack of usability.
The scaling is right but people assume that heavier mechs must be bigger, there is the mistake. Size /= weight.

Quickdraw actually had been one of the premier poptarting mech. What do you mean they got no meta loadouts?

People just found out that why play Quickdraw when you can play heavier mech with better poptarting loadouts and almost the same size--such as the Victor.

im just wondering with the upcoming clan mechs and all the all ready completely Borked mech sizes is it on a to-do list of PGI to ever go back and rescale all the mechs to be properly sized?

and please don't try saying "the mechs are the right size" because i will then pay to the computer gods to make your graphics card melt and your cat to piss on your monitor. if you have no cat then that a drunk friend/relative/roommate/yourself will accidentally spill a beverage or puke on your monitor. Preferably while you are playing.

Even if its one of those things thats on the BOTTOM of the priorities list is it at least on PGI's Radar they they F'ed up the scaling?

Why would it be fixed? It would take work to fix it. PGI doesnt like to do that unless it involves making new mechs that can be sold for cash....

Poptarting without ballistics? Lack of damage and too hot.

At some point in the past, one of the devs explained how rescaling the mechs was a lot of work, because it wasn't just a matter of scaling the geometry, but they'd have to actually re-size things like the little access hatches, and ladders, and junk... because if they just scaled down the mechs, then those ladders wouldn't be appropriate human size.

Of course, the explanation kind of missed a really key point, which was that LITERALLY NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT WHETHER A LITTLE LADDER ON A MECH IS PROPERLY SCALED TO HUMANS WHO YOU NEVER SEE IN GAME.

The idea that elements which actually have major impacts on gameplay could be held up for such a totally irrelevant aspect which basically no one would ever even notice anyway was really disturbing.

The mechs have ladders and hatches? Really? I honestly never noticed.

There is something wrong with scaling?
I see no link between the size of mechs and their weight, do you?

That, I believe, is the problem and point of this thread.
