After this weekend... I dare say no. Unless you like LRMONLINE which in the case is just flat out stupid at this point.

Hide or not... its the 7 mechs spamming it during a drop that now makes the game so lame it's at the SAD point not bad... just SAD./

Difference of opinion here. If I see my team has 7 LRM boats I think "We are doomed" not "This is gonna be easy".

I wasn`t talking about you specifically , but about the forum populace in general, sorry if that wasn`t clear. Just stating that as a general rule people either bash the game with or without good cause, support the game, or bash those supporting the game because they can`t think of intelligent arguments, and that that makes for a not so clear view of the actual status quo. ;)

Though from the way you`re already making the same pseudo-informed hyperbolic statements as the Black Knights and Cryhards ("Also, $500 for a custom paint job?" = you saw 500 and suddenly didn`t care about or remember ANYTHING else you read on the entire page before that, like the 24 other mechs + bays delivered BEFORE c-bill release, premium time, and diverse goodies), I do think I already know how which side you are probably on

Pretty clear what side you're on as well. Smooch up more and buy some MC. :D

Why not play for several rounds/days? If you have fun, then it's worth coming back to. If you don't, then it's not. It's actually as simple as that.

A lot of what is being said in here is more or less just opinion reinforced with heavy doses of personal bias. You really have to determine it for yourself.

Also, $500 for a custom paint job? Jez, either they're broke or wallowing in money. Maybe the game isn't the issue then.

Just to be more accurate, it's $500 for 25 Omnimechs, 9 of which have their own geometry, and 1 with a special color perfect for turning people into masses of enraged mindless zombies ready for slaughter.

To be honest though, you can get everything for $240 (and many of the things for less than that). The $500 (or $260 more) only adds a custom paint job.

It has a long way to go but i'd say at least return when clan mechs are released, it's why I got into the game, I never cared for the majority of the IS mechs atlas is one of my favorites because it's bad ass, but still it's a fun game as long as you dont think about all thats missing and should be in....

I'm not part of pgi I've had my times of harsh opinions but I'd still say this is the most fun free to play game and among the most expensive, but at least it runs fine most of the time, I have a lot of fun blowing up mechs, I'd like to see someday better explosions when a mech dies instead of it's pathetic little poof and it falls down, I'd like to see core explosions again they dont have to cause splash damage just be something cool to see, I'd also like to see better damage effects as well.

I'd say keep it on the radar like I said it has a lot to fix but does do some of it right.

judging by your list of complaint, probably not.

Poptarts are mildly toned down, thanks to LRMs finally being useful again (useful enough that Poptarts and those dumb enough to stand in the open are crying for them to be nerfed again)

And the wait queues are about to probably get much worse as Tuesday we will have private matches which I have a feeling will have a LOT of people not using public drop queues.

Other than that, not much change.

turrets have basically made assault skirmish 2.0.
plenty other reasons already mention why not to come back.

really not much has changed, the things that have; are for the worse and you really don't need to "try it out" yourself to make a informed decision.

i still play the game because i have a guild to play with and i like mech pew pew but im not excited about anything anymore. i don't feel like handing over money and i cant even convince others to play it because the progression is so slow and the feed back is shrugged off.

Come back in 4 days.

Private matches and SRM fixes to shake everything up.

This is a good point. Unless you're looking to player with more than 4 and less than 12 friends. Then SRM fixes along are unlikely to cause enough stir to make someone who left 6 months ago find enough fun (after wrestling with the new UI) to want to stay.

The game is pretty sad when people complain about one of the worst weapon systems, with soft and hard counters available.

If SRMs are fixed Tuesday, the game might finally have some balance between weapon types, rather than most being considerably less optimal.

Please note that when the package was first released, it was only that 'mech for 500. Some likely didn't bother going back after reading...that...kind of information to see if it was updated.

Also, nobody is on a side, we're all just players with opinions.

god, turrets are about the only thing that makes it worth playing non conquest. Adds a whole layer of tactical considerations. Have still capped out the opfor, just took some serious planning. TDM, er, "Skirmish" is about as exciting as watching paint dry, mentally. I don't think the turrets are the issue, so much as the map size in many cases.

Well, the bottom line is that if you play smart and use your head the game is a lot of fun. LRM's and Pinpoint Alphas just highlight the fact that if you screw up, or get into a bad position, you will die. Unless most of your team is dead and you have the whole enemy team focusing you down, you have no one but yourself to blame when bad things do happen. Keep your head down, be patient, and look for the right lane of attack. ;)

Free 2 Play is good. The only thing IMNSHO worth spending money on in this game yet is mech bays. After that, See what the Quad3 drop set is going to do and wait for community warfare... which needs to get here soon for the survival of this game and hope it will be all it promises.

The battlefield play is excellent with very few serious problems, but because there is no game outside of this mechanic, every problem is exaggerated in the forums.

Play and see what you think. If you like, shell out some dough. If you don't, walk away.

Highlights

: Sarah's Jenner

: Great community groups. eg F8L.co , Wolves of Vehemence etc

: The occasional great competitive game. (Check barracks)

: 3 game modes

: "What does the mech say?" ~ by Heffay

The Lows - (needs improvement)

: > 300 ping for those not in Canada

: LRMS

: 3rd person

: Gold Skins for $500

: Abuse and condescending in general chat

: only 3 game modes

: no offline or bot mode

: Community warfare

: Excluded from competing due to location. (eg San Francisco)

: No Marauder, Warhammer, Archer, Rifleman, Crusader, Phoenix Hawk, Wasp, Stinger.

: Missed marketing opportunities

The top two are the only reasons I really log in.

Exaggerate much? They have one competition at the launch event in San Francisco and everyone from far away is excluded? That's the only tournament they've had, outside of the ones online that everyone can participate in. You make it sound like PGI holds tourneys all the time in the US that you have to attend live to participate in.

Also, your 300 ping statement is BS...I'm in California and I don't get over 300 ping. Hell, my Aussie and Asian unitmates don't even get ping that high...the problem is most likely on your end if that's your experience.

ITT: People who don't have good situational awareness/positioning skills.

Do they have cover/AMS/ECM/direct fire/intellect where you're from?

Hi all!

When I initially heard about MWO I was hyped and bought into a founders pack. Didn't take me long to join one of the Clans of the time and run up hundreds of hours in beta with a game that had a lot of potential in a genre I love.

Unfortunatly, things started going south:
  • 12v12 waiting ques
  • tonnage mis-matching
  • poptarts
  • alpha metagame
  • cool Shots
  • 3rd person view
  • rediclous costing
So around about october I stopped cold; about the time poptart PPCs and AC20 alphas were dominant.

Suffice to say I got bored and reminiced today. Updated my game and had a quick peak at the Clan release, new UI and a few maps... cant say much has improved but that may be the old man in me thinking of the "...good old days".

So to those of you who've had more stamina than me: what'd you think?
Is PGI going the right way or is the SOS sounding?

Danish

Dont come back.. Pgi is milking hard community´s wallet atm..have a look into other games..

Same game as it was 2 years ago. PPC and ACs rule the battlefield still. Jump sniping is still king. If this game is around another year, it MIGHT be ready for some actual fun beside constant drop and shoot.
