I do not like the new CryEngine personally, bcause it was "consolided" - smaller physics, blur, shot range of vision,...
But I saw what devs from CryTech made with it on PC and I wish luck to devs making their game as good and nice as it deserves. :)

Now was the CryEngine 3, or the fact Crysis 2 was geared towards the console crowed?

I meant for this to get edited in to my post above, sorry for the double post.

Awesome. This really made my day... Though i hope you´ll use the engine at it´s best... unlike CryEngine was used in Crysis 2... Console optimization/ limitation makes games look like... well.. i lack the proper words.

But whatever... I want to Beta.. Beta.. Beta... ;-)

Having just downloaded the high res texture pack and DX 11 support for Crysis 2 and seeing what that engine is capable of when fully cranked let me just say... whoa baby. This is awesome news.

Excellent choice Russ and Bryan !!!

You know I wonder in the BattleTech lore if there was a battle that happened underwater. Imagine if you will the beauty of CryENGINE3 where BattleMechs engage in a huge underwater facility placed in a planet almost completely covered in water. Here you are, sitting in the cockpit of your battlemech and gazing out through the glass portals, as vehicles, fish, sharks, and other sea life swim by. You know the challenge for you and your lancemates is fighting through the various compartments of the underwater facility in a conquest style game mode.

Maybe the level would be named Oceania or Aquaria ... just thinking out loud. :)

DAMN STRAIGHT! Sadly I used up my daily amount of likes. Seriously best/worst level of MW2GBL was the underwater level.

I would love to see battlefield of all styles, colours, environments.

Wiki states that the Cry3 engine was used to make Crysis 2, and later to port Crysis to the consoles.
The website for Crysis 2 states that the MINIMUM system specs are:

Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, with the latest Service Pack
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz, or AMD Athlon 64 x2 2Ghz, or better
Memory: 2Gb (Vista requires 3Gb)
Hard disk space: 9Gb
Video: NVidia 8800GT with 512Mb RAM, ATI 3850HD with 512Mb RAM, or better

For comparison, Tom's Hardware states that the "score" for the processor is around 1400 to 1500, and the graphics card is around 800.

I have an intel i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz (score = 3x the min specs score), with a Radeon HD4870 (score = 2x the min specs score). So, I may not need to upgrade, even if I run on moderately high detail level.

Does this mean the game is going to look like the concept art? :)

Awesome awesome news, taking into account what a small mod team is able to do working against CryEngine 2, I can't even imagine what a dedicated dev team will be able to do working full time with CryEngine 3.

They could even do battles underwater. Battlemechs ARE airtight afterall. You could get a mission kill from shooting the cockpit and cracking the canopy thus letting water rush in and drown the pilot :D

Historical Turning Points: Galtor had an underwater battle between a lance of Draconis Combine mechs and some Galtor (Davion) planetary militia in submarines. That happened around 3025 though.
