F.e.: at the beginning of the match, I aks if we we go in or stay out. I get the word back, that we want to go in. If you want to take the middle of Mordor, you have to take fast and in numbers. So I go in, having my whole team behind me and then my team see one or two enemy mechs and make a hard brake and keep standing in the entrance, which is one of the worst thing you can do on this map...I'm in and get shot to pieces and my team stand's there in the entrance, at best the first 2-3 have a line of fire to the enemy, the others do more friendly fire than anything useful. and they're all a nice target for arty and air strikes...that happens so often...
I mean...if I hadn't asked at the beginning and would just run into the middle, i couldn't complain...but that's why I ask before...if they want to stay out...that can work too, no question...but say the word...
But that is not the maps fault!


Totally Agree with Cart on this issue and others on rushing the crater. The map is not a bad map, just a lot of bad choices here. Every PUG I get in on this map does the same stupid thing, rush the center and then chicken out the second they see even one Mech from the opposing team hanging out to dry the first Mechs in. Sticking with my team I have not seen most of this map.

one little detail I liked; use thermal vision on Therma.

whiteout conditions, because the entire planet runs hotter than a mech lol

People can't handle hot maps.

People hate Mordor as a result. Any game I can convince the team not to hump the volcano tends to be a fun one.

I voted "Fix it". We have far too few maps as it is. However I have to say that this map is just too much of a one trick pony. Aside from the central cone the entire map is just more of the same. To minimize the "boring factor" the map designer could at least added something to fight over, a space port, a refinery, a mining equipment depot, heck, add just about anything diferent than just another bunch of vent cones as far as the eye can see. Not saying the map is not beutiful, who ever made it was an artist but not a gamer. Really its just one big bore, game after game after game. 7erRed just above made a lot of good points. Even a casual nod at all the mining, moonscapes and volcanic maps, especially the mission play ones from MW4 would have made a great diference in game playability for PGI's customer base.

Terra Therma is statistically my best map. I build cool mechs by default, so I'm always still shooting long after everyone else's 'mech has shut down. So no, I don't think we should get rid of it, and I have no problem with how often it comes up in the rotation. I do think it's the map where I most often see "I hate this map" in the chat, so I'll give you that at least.

my only beef with terra therma is that too much of the map normally goes un-used and too many rounds end up with one team in the center and the other team getting stomped because they sit there in the choke point taking shots at the team in the middle and then me dying because I go and try to do other things and end up alone either by choice or because im the last one alive.

Who's Tarra Therma, and what did she do that would warrant a ban from the game?

The big problem with Terra Therma are the jerks that insta-disconnect upon seeing that it's the map for the match.

There is a special place in Hell reserved for their kind. Not on the same level of Hell as murderers, ******, and politicians, but rather on the same level of Hell as people that talk in movie theaters. Personally, I hope their place in Hell is them in an 3xPPC Awesome with 10 single heat sinks being chased by 23 Embers (4xFlamers, 4xMGs) around Terra Therma over and over again.

There is nothing wrong with the map only things wrong with peoples garbage builds. I can think of at least 3 maps that I hate WAY worse than Terra.

I did hate the map form the very first moment.
I did drop in a Heavy Metall, i believe it was shortly after the "hill stacking" feature. And even with JJs i got stucked all the time (ok they fixed it - but still the rise and ramps are to steep.

I have hardly a problem about heat - but if there is something you can do - take Godzilla or a HUGE hammer and pound the map until even the biggest hill is only 2-3times as heigh as a Mech. (and when you are finished go to alpine and do the same and when you are finished go to Canyon and do the same and if you finished go to Crimson and do the same and if you are finished go to HPG and do the same.

Seriously the scaling on the later maps (since Alpine) is crackbrained

Pretty map but it does NOT play well.... Whatever PGI played for this map, they were taken for a ride. Aside from all the volcanos, it really seems like we all got dumped into a hot maze and left to fight over nothing. Really PGI, there is really NOTHING worth fighting over. And we all don't give a damn for the weak back story. It does not make for a good game, especially with the pugs.

Terra Therma is easily my least favorite map, but it has nothing to do with it being hot. It's the limited routes you can take. And those routes happen to lead right to the center, which means thats where alot of the battles are fought. Thats not to say you can't have a good battle, it just isn't well balanced for all mech types. That and I don't care for the color scheme, the terrain is so dark (I suppose I could turn the gamma up...)

Also, Terra Therma isn't even the hottest map, that would be Tourmaline, and not many complain about its heat.

I like the map. The only real fix it needs is the same fix all the maps need, i.e. the ability to select your mech after you see which map you will be playing on. I would even be happy picking a class or chassis in advance if I could at least select the loadout for the match after seeing the map.

I love this map too, it has some of the best sniping positions. You just got to be creative.

Regardless, learn to manage your heat. It is not the maps fault considering it is a universal handicap.

I just hate the bottle neck leading into the center. Especially when i looks like ur lance is going to push yet when u get there everyone else bugged out.

I think the map is what it is. Its a hot lava map with a central death bowl that for some dumb reason, people like to fight for. I have a good time flanking behind the team that stacks up in one of the fatal funnel paths to the bowl and kill a few before they even realize I am there. That being said, I hate the map. Mostly because, according to my account map stats, I have played it nearly twice as much as any other map. They need to fix the map randomizer, but the map itself is fine.

My loyalties are to Mordor, and I tend to favor energy builds. The heat isn't a big deal if you know how to manage your heat, and also know how to take cover when you do need to cool down. Honestly, we could use a few more hot maps, seeing as we have plenty of cold or temperate ones already.
