Lots of people want to see Salvage, some people don't. I suggest turning it into a voluntary mini-game.

At the end of each match everyone gets a Salvage Token (or only winners or winners get two). These token go into a bank similar to MC/CB/XP/GXP (don't talk to me about tracking yet another form of currency until you see the BS Star Trek: Online does). At least we don't have to worry about MB, DB, KB, LB, SB (each House has their own currency against C-Bills (Comstar Bills)).

Anyways, I digress....

While you are in the front end there is a "Get Salvage" button. Pressing it brings up a menu with a currency slider to indicate how much you want to "gamble" with. Adjust the slider to the amount you want and hit the button.

Your bank loses the Salvage Token and the amount of money you allocated to the "gamble."

After a few seconds you get a popup with your "winnings." A random list of goodies equaling the amount of CB you spent. Any unspent CBs are included on the list.

Wash.Rinse.Repeat.

The question is, lets say people don't want to play the mini-game, what to do with their hoard of Salvage Tokens?

I got drunk and asked Russ about this at the launch party and he said that it might violate canadian online gambling laws or something.

edit: I told him salvage should be like lockboxes with loot like other MMOs have, with free options yielding comparable c-bill bonuses to current salvage, with the option to use c-bills or MC for elite and master techs for better equipment and c-bill yields.

I wonder if what you received wasn't currency, but the ACTUAL SALVAGE, if that would be more interesting.
