Till they get one shot by 4 large caliber guns.

I don't know how they could though, even as it is now it's so easy for a light to stay behind most of these slow atlas and highland builds out there. The only thing they can do is hope they are near a wall to back up to. I had a fresh heavy metal's core red from behind until his friend finally showed up and saved him. All but, the worst light pilots should easily be able to stay behind something so big and slow.

I'm in the camp that doesn't want a 4xGauss build in the game. Doesn't matter how slow and stiff it is, if it has the ability to one-shot new players, the game has problems.

The way I see it...if a new player can get one-shot by an Annihilator boating a bunch of high-caliber weapons, chances are...the entire rest of the Annihilator's team can shoot that player as well.

Hot, sadly :)

10x AC/2 should be 10 heat and easily cooled by 10 DHS.

"Should" yes.

But then, what would be the point of the AC/2?

Drop the heat that low - and the DPS would need to be dropped as well to keep it in balance.
AC/2 was the worst weapon in TT - everything it could do, another weapon did just as well, if not better.

I just wanted to point out to the people saying the Annihilator has lower arm actuators that, at the very least, the ANH-1A does not, and (as long as you didn't run XL) could indeed fit 4xAC/20. Not that I'd recommend it; the moment you alpha that, you're probably going to die horribly from overheating (put in one ton of ammo, suicide machine anyone?) thanks to your friendly neighborhood Ghost Heat. B)

On that note, a 300 XL is only 4 tons heavier than a 200 std, and you can fit a Gauss rifle in the same torso as an XL. It could be extremely possible to have a 54 kph 4 gauss Annihilator, and even with ghost heat that would be a jaw dropping long range punch.

Edit: At 1100 meters 4 gauss rifles translates to 40 damage. Imagine the equivalent damage of AC/40 at more 4 times the range.

Question is, what max. engine rating would the Anihilator get? As mentioned before me, 4 Gauss Rifles at 54kph are pretty scary. What about 3 Gauss Rifles, a couple mediums at 60? And even -if- it keeps a low engine Rating, it would still be a noob basher extraordinaire...
I do not think PGI is risking that. (Or they would put about 1000% Ghost Heat on more than one Gauss or something stupid like that...derp)

Good question. Max engine rating is a function of the stock engine, correct? If so we could figure out what the max could be.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say its max engine would be just below 300 at best (based on some observations, I've noticed that max engines usually land just below a TT value, like how most Atlases can't go up to 400, or Stalkers not being able to hit 340, etc.)

You can keep your Gauss, i would just put 4 ac5's on it and party. It would make my cataphract 4x extinct since it would be able to hold more ammo and a larger engine

I am pretty sure that it is the -1E that loses the lower arm actuators, but that variant has no ballistics weapons in the stock configuraion.
