To put a ton of fire, directly ahead, as they slowly and inexorably march forward.
Without adequate support on the rear and the flanks, they are horribly outclassed.
If they bring the Annihilator into the game, Locust pilots everywhere will rejoice for having such easy targets on the field.

Till they get one shot by 4 large caliber guns.

But I'd take all the MG's. By the time I actually got to a fight, there'd be SOME bare internals out there. Couple of PPC's for backup, and...instant gut-gibber!

Only mech I know of that carries more than a few carries 12MG (+2ERML and 1ERSL) and weighs 20 tons.

The Bane [Kraken] mech in the link someone else posted has 10x AC2, 4x MGs. So [my thoughts exactly] if it were in MWO, you could have it with 14 MGs for the lulz.

That was me that posted that link - hadn't noticed it had 4MG as well though.

Thanks

But would it be viable? The biggest thing I see wrong with the Annihilator is its speed. The stock Annihilator comes with a 200 Grade Engine and moves just as fast as an UrbanMech. That speed would translate to its aiming ability and just turning from one side to another would probably take around 5 seconds. Sure, it could stand in the back and snipe but the moment a light comes around, I don't see it being capable of hitting it with such slow movements and wouldn't it be taller than an Atlas?
Twisting wouldn't be slow at all, remember MWO buffs twisting speed by over 50% with the elites, and 25%(ish) for the basics.
Lets see what happens with slow speeds and 3 Gauss Rifles.
Personally I don't see a huge threat here. Quite frankly, we'll see the same thing from every 4 Clan ER PPC mech that exists. The difference is they won't explode when a machine gun bullet hits them.
Everyone would replace it with 4 UAC/20s or 4 RAC/5s. Though a mixture of ACs is pretty OP anyway, watch what happens to the Brawler Atlas AND the Muromets back to back from this 1 LB, 1 AC/5, 1 AC/2, 1 MG combination.

Annihilator is within the timeline - just have to wait for PGI to want/have time/resources to put it in (production year - 3048)
Piranha is a clan design (which they then mostly scrapped / sold to the IS because it didn't fit their fighting style) from 3051
