Had this idea a while ago and I just wanted to throw it in it's own thread.
What if ghost heat was applied to total alpha damage output instead of link fired same type weapons?
Currently if you fire three or more PPC together you incur ghost heat, but not if you say fire a PPC and a Large Laser together.
Now, i say total damage output so this could be applied to any combination of weapons fired simultaneously.
We have an AC20 that does 20 damage pinpoint and a LRM20 that does 22 damage non-pinpoint.
Set the max "safe" damage output at 20 points (exclude missiles) and anything over 20 points will incur an increased % of ghost heat. 20 points of damage is 100% damage. 21-25 points does 150%,etc... Of course the actual numbers would have to be tested to find that sweetspot, but I think this is a viable alternative to ghost heat implementation and the current (and future) meta.

I still prefer the targetting computer overload. Sure, you can fire everything. Don't expect them to hit the exact same location.

I would just prefer if ghost heat was removed.
fix pinpoint damage with damage spreading mechanics instead (AC burst fire and PPC arcing damage)
also increase internal structure.
that way I still get to aim where I shoot, but the damage isnt as lethal.
