I've had my music level muted for quite a few months now, because the more I keep hearing the looped lobby music and 10-15s match intros/outros, the more I've grown to despise it.

For me it just serves as a constant reminder to the theme of, "Take the easiest route," methodology that so much of this game seems to be based off of, and the plethora of resulting issues because of it.

To be completely frank, to me the in-game music (including the Heavy Metal's theme) sounds like the most generic, unemotional, and cheesy music that could have come from royalty-free websites or something like Video Copilot's Pro Scores, and it lacks any kind of tribal/sci-fi feel or immersion that all other MW games had.

Music is very subjective though, so I don't expect everybody to share the same opinion.

What do you think about the in-game music for MWO?

I would not say I hate it, but it is of average quality to start with so once you have heard it looped four million times you are ready to turn it off.

My music volume is at 0%.

Didn't know there was any, first thing I do in any game is sound options-music volume off.

It's mediocre... but what's worse is that compared to its predecessors, particularly MW3 and MW2, the MWO seems "generic" so consequently it's just bad/worse for that reason alone.

Mind you, MW3's music has little variety (2 tracks, 1 more if you even include the Pirate Moon Expansion), but you had a sense of purpose or "unity".

None of these things exist in MWO... especially when the gameplay is pretty much repetitive and has literally no meaning in the grand scheme of things at the moment.

Sad thing is that MW2 and Ghost Bears have some of the most memorable and distinctive music of any video game.

I don't hate the in-game music, but I'd FAR rather listen to the soundtracks from MW2, MW2 Mercs and MW2:GBL. They're so incomparably better and I always mute the ingame music to listen to them instead.

All of the actual trailer songs are listed here. You'll find that the ingame music clips are mostly from these, and that the full songs are pretty damn good.

yeah I usually play some Genesis or The Smiths or some King Crimson over it instead. I wonder if there's a way to disable ingame music.

"Genesis - Looking for Someone" is the best Spider/Jenner scouting run soundtrack freaking ever.

The firebrand track is my personal fave, saying that the in game music is ok, it tends to grate but more due to the number of matches played. The Heavy Metal mech kill tracks are very cool, tho there is one pentatonic that is way too bluesy, albeit overdriven and it drives me crazy....lol

This.
Whatever music they'll choose, someone will complain about it.

I actually like that it's not that "mute" anymore. The music plays at the start of the match and then fades out as the action takes over. Works perfect for me.

Thanks for the link, and you're right, the full songs are indeed quite good.

It's kind of a shame that there's so much to each song not being utilized in the game itself. Perhaps more of my dislike is from the contrast between the lobby music and in-game start sequences?

Not all those tracks would work well for lobby music, but perhaps something that matched the rest of the songs better would be more pleasing to hear in the background as you're working on a mech.

Although I'd more readily take an option to mute the "boop" sounds in the menu screens vs having new lobby music.

"Lemme just get some modules really quick."
*Boop dee boop beep boop beep...*
*Beep beep boop dee beep boop...*

"Must...stop...letting...mouse...hover...over...things!"

*Boop dee boop beep boop dee boop...*
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!"

The Protector trailer is actually a really good Mechwarrior track, IMO, but so much of what you actually hear in game is just nonspecific guitar wailing.

I personally think the Boar's Head music is badass. Every time that plays at the start of the game i get revved up to do better. :P
