Awesomes were still a hindernance... it was either an Awesome or an Atlas.
Just check the RHOD finals and try to find any Awesomes in the line-up of either the Eridani Light Pony or Chaoz.

for competive team cowards -_- sure.
for 1 on 1 - no there is even now hardly a better mech

only reason i don't run Awesomes is the constant lack of c-bills for me - oh and the missing ability to have a AC 20. :)

You're thinking of 2 PPC + 3 AC5 Banshees.

lol yeah banshee's

4 ppc stalkers were so dreaded when they were here

now literally any other meta builds beat this stalker build but no issues been raised by pgi which is odd considering the fret about 4 ppc stalkers in ghost heat

I still run an Awesome with 5 PPCs, it surprises the heck out of people when a storm of lightning just starts impacting. Just to be on the safe side I also have a small laser to chase off nothing.

Why not run 6? Most people thing Awesome is not Awesome...and when they come to "easy" kill you - you ruin their day. (at least it doesn't matter if they kill you - or heat kills you right?)

And maybe some day - some "Mariks" come to the forum and tell us that Awesome is complete OP

a Little thing called Ghost Heat ruined that build. I used to pride myself on building a 6 ppc mech that wouldn't shut down back when we only had single heat sinks. But then ppl had to try to copy the build with a stalker and were so bad at using it PGI added ghost heat to try to force ppl to lrn2play

the hex stalker was almost death when "PGI" finally reacted.

Nah, it was nowhere near as bad as the poptart phase. I never met a 6 ppc stalker i couldn't beat with the awesome

The 6 PPC stalker was never a good mech.

because if you fire two ppcs then one ppc its two salvos. not one.

There is no timeframe.

meaning of the word salvo: "a simultaneous discharge of artillery or other guns in a battle".

A salvo by definition has to be simultaneous. If you fire one salvo of three PPCs it means theyre fired simultaneously. If you fire two PPCs then one PPC a half second later thats not one salvo. Its two.

FFS english class is over.

I think the point in question is in TT, after you fired ALL 3 PPC's, how long was it until the next salvo?

10 seconds would the correct answer. Now if in MWO you fired 3 PPC and waited a full 10 (10 x 1 thousand 1) count, do you really think Heat would be as unmanageable as is imagined in the 4 second world of MWO?

P.S. Not everyone speaks english as a first here btw you ******* *****. :P

What's great about the Awesome? What can it do that another mech can't do?
If you can't answer thats the problem.

It dies with style!

Had patcher issues and lots of boredom today, so I played around with some image editing software again and came up with this.

- AWS-Slim -
* Slimmed down center, moving side torso closer together.
* Slightly lowered shoulders to further reduce profile size.
* Arms remain same size to keep it protected from the sides.
* Narrower "thigh gap" to match legs with the slimmer torso.
* Still looks Awesome, and maybe even more so than before.

As much as the 'Mech is a pain to drive and survive, whenever I see a player playing one which isn't drab green, I always think
'Kudos to you, buddy'.

A while back PGI re-worked some hit boxes for various mechs, the big ones being the Awesome and the Orion.

Now I think the Orion is pretty popular. At least I never hear anybody complaining about it.

But the Awesome, I still get the feeling that the majority of players still think it's sub-par.

Well, what does it take to make that mech work?

Personally, i think yet another hitbox change. Make it the reverse of what it was before. Instead of a walking CT, make it into a first class zombie mech with a hard to hit CT. Hell, the 9M could have 3 medium lasers in full zombie mode.

Basically, give it this for side torsos, and make the football armor shoulder pads part of the arms.

Baring that, maybe give it an ECM slot.

It is already more manuverable than the Victor...what else do you want?

Honestly it should be able to fire 3xERPPC at once without Ghost heat though...

At least in stock matches it is good.

I still have a soft spot for it, but it definitely needs some love.

I miss that game....

Maybe one day SRMs won't be a waste. One day...

And that ammo explosion! Glorious!

That's the key. It's the only girl at the dance wearing that dress.

In a game where every 'Mech with an energy hardpoint can upgrade to a PPC, and other higher-damage combinations exist, you run Awesomes because you enjoy the idea of an Awesome.

What they hell have they done?!

Heh... I remember those days. Closed Beta. Ahhhh so awesome. It was so much... better. So much... FUN.

As much as I rolled my eyes when they made bad decisions... I always told myself at least the game is fun to play. I wish I could still say that now.

Fun factor has decreased, dramatically.

WOW, I wish I wouldve know about this game a long time ago. The Sound effects sound better. Forest Colony actually had more trees, that battles seemed way more awesome. The Missile Effects looked way cooler, Love the AC20 impact sound. The Atlai had Glowing Eyes!!!!
