Did anybody hear that CCP has cancelled all development of their vampire MMO - World of Darkness? That was the game they started up instead of pursuing development of in-station moving about/interaction in EVE.

Yea but they've said they are looking into passes for like $5 with loaner ships so it's not like it would be a large fee to play in the alpha once DFM is released.

Just posted: Alpha passes for the slow people

So, it seems you can still buy ships which will increase game funding, you just will not have free alpha access (and whatever comes before the Beta), you buy an Arena Commander (formerly identified as the DFM) pass which will facilitate server support for the Alpha. For the DFM, backers get access first, then they'll see how many passes they need to generate.

They are still considering whether to have Beta slots

I just watched that. Pretty cool stuff. Those devs are REALLY enthused to be on that project, methinks.

You can still buy these games online. The game engine was also open sourced and updated to modern standards. Search google for Freespace SCP for more info. The gameplay was a rip-off of Tie Tighter but the story, voice-acting and immersion is at a level beyond that of any game I can think of.

I think we're getting a combination of freespace and wing commander with star citizen. I still play freespace even now though It was an excellent game. It's one of the reasons I went ahead and bought a ship for alpha access against my better judgement when it comes to the whole kickstarter, crowd funding, position at the time situations you seem to see. CR has a solid pedigree and track record when it comes to not only games but this genre in particular. Hopefully the DFM drops soon
