How is that possible? Look at your heat meter to the right of your minimap.

That or you walked out of bounds and stayed there.

Heat damages your CT Internal Structure if you stay to hot long enough.

From a lore perspective if you overheat too much the mech literally cooks the pilot. As stated above, in MWO you take damage to your center torso, where the engine is housed.

A mech with a working cupholder is lostech, mate.

As it is, it is possible to kill yourself if your torso is already red and you're slamming the override button.

You don't have to be using override to kill yourself via overheat. Ask me how I know...

Nah you take CT damage every time your mech goes to shutdown.

Load up a Battlemaster with 7PPCs, and alpha. You wont get out of overheat before you take enough CT damage to kill you.

I already mentioned that as did several others.

I think there are three ways to kill yourself in MWO. First is through overheating, second is by going out of bounds, and third is by dropping an Artillery/Air Strike on yourself.

If you say you overheated with autocannons I'll hazard a guess that you were running an AC40 build and are unfamiliar with ghost heat.

They still generate heat. If you are trying to use two AC20s at the same time they generate a lot of "ghost heat", which is intended to make you not shoot them both at once.

Doesn't matter what you overheat with, you will take damage while in the red. If you overheated with AC's and you had ammo in the CT, it can cook off as well, I believe.

Continuously firing 4 or more Autocannon 2s will cook you as well, especially if you're on a hot map.
