EDIT: Thanks for your replies. For others viewing this topic; the "Cancel" button appears at the bottom left of your screen when searching for a game. It's easy to miss if you're using a big screen or multiple monitors side by side.

How many times have you launched the search for a game only to change your mind a few seconds later? Selected wrong mech, remembered another layout you could try or forgot to buy coolant/artillery? Well, too bad, it's too late now. The game is already searching for a match you could fit in. Not to mention if the search goes on for a few minutes. So how about being able to cancel the search?

There were a few topics like this one in the past but it seems all were ignored due to not being popular enough and are now in the Archive:
http://mwomercs.com/...a-match-search/
http://mwomercs.com/...arch-for-match/
http://mwomercs.com/...el-game-search/

So, please. If you want this feature, comment something. I don't think this has the potential to turn into a troll topic. Nothing to re-balance here. It should also be relatively easy feature to implement.

Ummm we have this thing called Cancel-button now? low left corner of your screen while searching...
and before that Alt+F4 was pretty good cancel-button also, had to start game again though.

"while those in the public queue now have the ability to cancel out of the matchmaker while searching."

On large screens, like all UI2, it is not hard to miss. They could have put in the middle of the screen but they like to scatter things.

Just like the "mech loadout" button is on the bottom right but to go "back", they put it upper left (rather than where it should be which is where your mouse was left sitting when you got to that screen".

Anyway, don't blame OP too much.

We have a Cancel button. True, it is small and tucked away where one may not notice it. Placing it in the ceer of the screen near the searching message would be much more obvious.

Maybe PGI will fix these silly things of 2.0 some day.

and I'm usually blaming people for not reading patch notes :)

Yeah.. I can't ridicule him too much..

I just noticed the "Strip Mech" feature yesterday.. (I was on a MWO-Break when that was patched in I guess...)

And that one was even more obvious.

well if this wasn't a useless topic. Nothing worse than making a topic about a feature and its already in the game lol.

This is the first complaint I've seen about this feature in the forum, and it only appeared after it was actually implemented. Who'd have thought.

Thank you. I'm usually playing with 2 pals of mine and neither of us had noticed it yet. Nobody did Alt+F4 because we were afraid of leaving 3 DCs in a team which would ruin a match for 9 other people.
While the UI is really clean, some options blend in too well ;)

alt-f4 is a great option when you are done...saves 3 clicks and a lot of waiting.

Ok, this just happened now:
Created a room, invited a friend, started a game.
Canceled the search (went to get some water).
Friend ended up in-game and said that I was "One of those with 0 ping".
I could freely continue to de/select my meches and it didn't look like my mech was in a match.
Did Alt+F4 and back. It was "in-game". Effit.
