why do my weapons groups keep reseting everything to group 1

Because there is a (or possible several) bug(s) affecting the relevant xml-file.
Try running the repair tool and/or try deleting your weapongroups.xml (in your ...\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles\yourname folder). The game will create a new one and you'll have to make new weapon groups.
This is said to have worked for some people but not everyone.
There's a bug though that makes some 'mechs share their weapongroups, if you change something on one 'mech the other will be changed too. No fix or workaround for that, yet.
In any event submit a support ticket, can't ever be enough of those.

ok thanks iron. yea, i just uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game, still does it. its not that big a deal, but coupled with everything else, its annoying. thanks anyway.

Thanks, been seeing this too, now I can try a couple of things.

Easy way to fix it, check your folder for write protection.
Remove it.
Profit.
Seems either windows or MWO sets some folder to read only every now and then.

I am kinda wondering why we can't adjust the weapons groups settings for hte trial mechs to something that works better for us...
