Nevernewb gets himself critted; his XL engine starts a-sputtering. He tries to kill a lowly, wounded wildebeest; his engine sputter throws his aim off; he rages on the forums about how he so shoulda killed that wildebeest and his kill-to-death score will forever suffer; awesome feature is removed.

Just say'n: maybe your memory isn't what you remember it to be (I know mine isn't!)
Content as important as this will obviously have faked video evidence to support it. The lengths to which Founders will go to stress the awesomesauce of Closed Beta know no bounds!

Screen Shake /= HUD Flickering
Talking about HUD Flickering when you get high heat.

Can't comment on the better game statement but the rest of your post makes me wish things could be like that now. A sniper should **** his robot pants if an SRM brawler mech caught him unaware or closed the distance wihtout being completely destoyed.
Isn't that the whole rock/paper/scissors balance type deal that should play out to some extent?
Which wouldn't be a problem if the maps didn't have piles of exaggerated hills safeguarding even the derpiest of forward charges. I thought closed beta was pretty good. The only problem is that the people who don't like rock paper scissors complained. Alot.
Splatcats wouldn't have been much of a problem if they didn't have luxuriously shielded routes to hide behind, and if we had VOIP to call them out. They never have succeeded historically. I had some luck with the SSRM Mad Dog in MWLL, but then again.. used terrain or team mates as cover to close with the enemy.

that´s because 90% of the loyal subjects have been driven away over the course of 2013...
but PGI already crossed the point of no return a good while ago, they feeded "their new target audience" so much that they can´t turn back and make a good mechwarrior game anymore... they need to stay on the boom-swoosh-arcade path, because "a thinking mans shooter" would be too much for most people who are here nowadays... PGI HAS to count on their fluctuating audience now, cause "the loyal playerbase" is none anymore...
well what ever... loyality is overrated anyway

So I have been playing this game nearly a year now. Yesterday someone showed me footage from Closed Beta adn I was stunned. The game just looked so much more pure. I heard it was still bugged with some stuff, but the game looked like it was being designed by people that were genuinely happy about their product.
In the video Forest Colony looked like a true forest with trees all over the damn place. Sound effects sounded way more awesome with my favorite being the Centurion-AH pluggin the Awesome with a AC20 and you here the armor impact. Yeah the glowing red eyes was sinister but was able to be shot from far away.
Look im not here to start flaming PGI or IGP, I am here asking (begging) for you guys to find your passion again. Just look at the reviews online from the CB days were you loyal subjects were genuinely happy and supported you 100%. Compared with now where you are constantly harassed and given crap. Listen to the people Bryan and Russ, and by doing so the people may just make you rich beyond measure and elevate your reputation to the highest mark in the game industry. The greater your reputation, the more projects youll receive, the more money youll get and the bigger youll grow. We havent lossed all faith, but we can only wait so long for you to find you way.
Id like this message to get passed on if possible to someone in PGI if at all possible.
I miss the snazzy sounds.
Does anyone remember the glare bloom we used to get?
Oh man, in some ways this game is so much better. Remember that HORRIBLE overheat/yellow display bug, or the f'ed up mini hud, or the weird black screens... Like those major bugs that took quite awhile to work out?

They got rid of multi-colored heat vision because it was simply too good; people were practically using it as a wallhack*
*Slight exaggeration

I remember it as an issue with colourblindness for some people? /scratches head. I might very well be wrong.
