Yes, there is a silent community and it makes up 95% or more of the playerbase.

Out of the 170 members of my unit only 3-4 visit the forums and I am the only one in the international forums.

You know. I hope we do see a lot of gold mechs and not just the Timberwolf. Gold mechs = wealthy players = pgi got paid.

Guys I think You are wrong!
Your product is not 100% working: many lags, bugs 1/10 rounds game restarts whole PC, loses connections etc.
You don't offer community what You've promised. All You have to offer is Mech-Sale.
I haven' play this game ~1.5 years, 1 month ago started to play again and I will tell You TRUE - it's boring.
And I am not complaining about team mates or balance...Game itself it's absolutely crap.
Regarding Clan - Mech .
I would spend 30-100$ ( don't ask why), but could You please share Mechs specs, specially when You offer 1+2 help me to chose.
Even if I would buy full collection - I would like to know what I am paying for.
500$ for what exactly, golden camo -all community will shot this Mech on the first seconds of game.

PS: sorry for my English in case of any mistakes here, I hope You got my message.

Although, that isn't really a fair comparison. The gold mech is a 100% vanity item, while the gtx 780 has, at least for most gamers, actual practical use. Comparing how much food you can get for the price is even worse.

If you're pondering whether to get a vanity item or something with practical value (or something that's a real necessity), you can't truly afford vanity items. It's also fair to say that in this situation going for the vanity item might not be the smart choice. For some it may still be worth it, if someone gets their kicks from having a shiny mech in game, good for him/her.

Now, if you're pondering whether you're going to get a gold mech in the game or splurge 500 dollars extra on a nice brand watch, that's when you're in the right ballpark. Do you get this vanity item that you don't really need for anything, or do you get this other thing that you don't have real use for either? Both are really just used for showing off.

This is true. However, we can argue that real, tangible vanity items (such as the nice brand watch) hold resale value, which increases their initial value to the buyer, while virtual items, such as the gold mechs do not.

The gold texture is probably like, barely a day's work for the texture artist. And with the upper limit you can charge for the game being somewhere up in the heavens already....

F2P has always had some pretty silly skewed ideas of value but this is just ridiculous.

And gold mechs on the battlefield can be seen as encouraging this sorta nonsense instead of well... getting some proper features done. (but then well, the silly gold texture probably doesn't set the team back a whole lot if any)

Slippery slope. What's next? Platinum? DIAMONDS?

Diamond encrusted platinum Daishi. Get your's today while the offer lasts! $1500!

And of course the gold watch doesn't evaporate when they shut the servers off without notice one day.

As for gold-plated mechs, I hope PGI saw fit to reward a higher salvage value. :P

Yes, that is indeed true. Gold mechs however do have quite a high potential to be noticed by a lot of people around the world, which depending on one's lifestyle and priorities can have more show-off value than for example that watch.

Also, compared to those true tangible vanity items, I would say that the gold mech price is pretty cheap.

Buy a watch for 1000 dollars, use it for 2 years, sell it for 750 dollars. Or buy a gold mech, play it for 2 years. Having resale value doesn't mean that you're not losing money in the deal anyway.

No one has to buy a gold mech to play this game, so it does not matter what PGI charges for it. Also, the people who design the mechs are not the same people who work on other areas of the game, so no devs are being taken off of working on bugs / features.

I think that is what a lot of people forget. While I think it is more than a day's work, it is not a huge amount of time spent - roughly the same as any other skin - and if people enjoy the skin, more power to PGI for getting that much money out of their own time! As I have said before, anything that keeps the game going is good with me.

I think a Diamond skin would be awesome. Not for that much, or even $260 like the Gold ones are, but still an awesome idea.

PGI could sell GOLDEN CAMMO/Color for 500$ . but not mechs! If me or You want support the game could do it by buying it.
My opinion: if PGI's marketing team wants to sell Mechs they should provide a full Spec of it!

Once again: Gollden Cammo/ Collor for 500$ is much reasonable then sell a Golden Mech

The gold mechs will be the prime variant. We do have the prime variant's specs for each clan mech announced. Most of the unknowns regarding clan mechs are related to the mechanics of certain weapons and equipment.

Again, reasonable or not, it is not necessary to play the game. The specs are the same as the specs for the non-golden Warhawk prime, which you can see by mousing over it's picture on the page where you buy the clan mechs.

That's right folks. We should ram and wreck that gold Enzo because it'll teach Ferrari a lesson; that they shouldn't sell cars like that.

Yes I've talked about shooting gold mechs but in the end it's pointless. That's why if I had a gold mech I'd change its color and wait a week or two before I played it.

Analogy is sort of misleading...... PGI is no where similar in stature to an an elitist Automobile Company like Ferrari...

ITs more like a Ford making a crapton of Pintos and coloring them Gold and selling them as if they are Ferraris.

But I do agree with your statement... at one time I was so mad with PGI and their Costs... but in the end its the consumer that decides if they want to pay... Doesn't really matter anymore...

Not even a day's work. The UV layout is already done, the basic texture are already in PSDs as layers. The artist changes some tint values, adds a layer or two, exports it. Someone checks a box on material render settings and bam, 500 dollar skin.

Probably true, but as long as someone is willing to pay that much for it, it is worth that much. Again, I cannot comprehend why this irritates people so much. No matter what anyone says, it is purely jealousy that makes them upset with the fact that a gold skinned mech costs $500. Yes, some of us could afford it, but we still may not be able to buy it for a variety of reasons and we still might be jealous that we can not. Get over it, there is nothing about this mech that is different than the prime variant, except for the garish camo.

Yes, those who are overly concerned with how other people spend their money.

Well the more they spend, the more PGI/IGP charges, the more we have to pay, the more they willingly spend, the more PGI/IGP is willing to charge us, the more we have to pay, the more they willingly spend...

It just goes on, ;)

You'll see numbers rising magically, they won't develop things just to scrap them.
