If you've ever dug around in the game files, you would see progress has been made on CW.

Then again, doing that is against the rules, and I'd hate to see you risk your account in order to verify what I said... :D

Weird, there's a pcgamer article on my desk that says it's going to be done between winter and spring of 2012....

I mean, there's no way content that "couldn't be more key to the game's longevity" would be delayed for over 2 years...

After all it's "the umbrella that holds all the other pillars together," says creative directory Bryan Ekman. "It's what wraps the game up in something that creates a sense of persistence and makes the game compelling."

I'm sure they have top men working on something that important.

Top. Men.

If we have been accumulating Loyalty Points during all this time since the Phoenix Package came out - can we see how much we have and can we exchange them for a Hero mech of our choice? or better yet exchange them for MC, GXP or a free Camo or a set of Premium Colours?

I'm pretty sure your loyalty points can be exchanged for "universal health care" eh?

I'm going out on a limb here, but as long as you have you're tag of a faction chosen, and it shows ingame, like for me FRR, than you would have gained loyalty points too
Not just with Phoenix or the medallions, those are just offering a xp boost, also read "bronze" medal, meaning once stuff like this is out there's going to be at least a golden one too

The reason why we don't see something is probably that they still want to sell the clan package, extend it once or twice like founders
Most likely because they either have absolutely nothing on CW yet, or it's so dammed dissappointing

I want to be so wrong on this, but I bet in the end it's just a most minimalistic map with a few shiny dots as stars, and some statistics that says owned by this house, ....

And no one would shell out 240$ for that, let alone 500$

Quite right. My fault that CW isn't out yet. I shoudl have tried harder to get PGI to release their code and product.

But according to you, we're to blame for the delays and not PGI. Brown knighting at it's finest

Show me where I said the lack of CW is your fault.

Consider this.
We have dozens of people in the forums bragging about how easy it would be for them to fix all the problems PGI is having.

PGI has had a "Now Hiring!" sign at the bottom of the website since I joined up - before they took R&R out.

So - is it just PGI's fault that those problems have not been fixed?

"HEY! I can fix those problems EASY!"
"Great! We are hiring!"
",,,,,,WHY Haven't you fixed those problems yet?!?!?! You SUCK!"

Yep - totally JUST PGI's fault.

And that would be just that issue.

I already drafted a 2 pages long letter to PGI, explaining their current situation on weapon and mech balance, and how it is making the game stale, and driving newer pilots away. I introduced my background, and wrote about the way to start achieving better balance and variety, and how to better allocate their human resource for the tasks at hand for faster progress. I also expressed my desire to work in their company in the balance team and would be happy to move there with my family if need to.

Fun fact: I am giving the IELTS test on May 17th, to get a Canadian study visa, so I'll be visiting Canada soon anyway, insha'Allah.

However I am hesitant to send the letter for one reason. Judging from the command posts, it seems as if Paul made the whole balancing issue his and only his pet child. It just doesn't feel like my ideas are even going to be taken seriously.

Congrats then - and I hope you make it in, ;)
As for taking your ideas seriously - I wouldn't know.
I wouldn't take them not implementing your ideas right away to hard though
For part of why - see the old Azshara zone in WoW - for another part - there are people out there who, while taking things seriously - are very good at giving the impression they are not.

But my point still stands - how many people in the forums have claimed "X would be an easy fix" and when told that PGI was hiring, returned with a "SCREW YOU"?

Well, they're not looking for people to solve for x or come up with solutions to game balance or give new creative ideas, they're looking for software engineers.

I've seen lots of posts with good ideas from people who have no idea what it would take to implement them. And the posts from people with the knowledge to back up their claims tend to disappear....

And sometimes people DO take matters into their own hands and give the community things we've been asking PGI for since 2011.

Did you know that there was a fan made soundtrack in the works by someone offering his free time?
Didn't even ask something in return.

There has been a lot of people volunteering to draw up some maps, let community vote on them and the winning maps would go to PGI to build something more out of them?

There where even some fans offering to make the item descriptions, you know, simply typing down simple descriptions for the mechlab, drawn from Sarna.

PGI chimed in every time to let people know that its not needed, or just kept silent until the matter died.

I don't know this company has a very different stand towards fans than can be healthy in the long run.
What does this game offer who isn't a fan of TT, or Mechwarrior?
There have been extremely detailed balance ideas, and general ideas been drawn out by fans, literally wasting they're free time trying.

And maybe PGI is simply not a good employer, they don't even get interns to do the small stuff like typing the descriptions in as it seems, took 2 years or so all together.
Or Canadians are really uninterested in learning to code. ;)

And while MWO taught me to be patient with a crowdfunded game, I do find SC to be at least better suited for the fans, better communicated, more fan integration (PGI DID tell the core players they don't matter).

letting fans vote on a fan made ship design, and giving out hard cash to the first and second place?
cool

Which - if you had actually read it - was not my point.

But then - you wouldn't be able to mock PGI then, would you?

Reread this thread a few times and I guess your point is over my head.

The community (or at least the portion of it claiming that everything PGI hasn't done would be "So easy!") is as much to blame for the game not being more as PGI is.

I kinda thought that's what you meant, that's why I listed a few examples of missing pieces of the game provided by the community as a counterpoint.

I mean yeah most of the "So easy!" people are talking out their asses but why do you think they deserve any blame for the state of the game? Because they haven't applied to work at PGI?
