I still see Gauss carrying mechs quite commonly (mostly Jags and Cataphracts, go figure) and their punches still hurt just as much as any FoTM poptart alpha (perhaps more, because they converge better due to no projectile speed differences).

Don't even bother to try and answer the claim that nerfs happen because "[insert scapegoat] cried." It's not based facts, so arguing facts with it just feeds into the person's martyr complex - "Oh, look at how unreasonable the mean qq crowd is." In reality, while player complaints can tell a developer to look at a certain mechanic, whether/what nerfs or buffs take place is always done according to internal testing and analysis. Player opinion can suggest what kinds of nerfs and buffs would be acceptable to the player base, but what actually happens is determined by the developer, after looking at their data and game demographics.

But in every game I have ever played online, there's always a very vocal bloc of people who scream things like "people QQ'd, and they nerfed DKs for no reason," when in actuality Unholy Death Knights were doing far too much damage in serious raids, and "ShadowFrost" PvP builds had turned Death Knights (a melee class) into an amazing machinegun of ranged munchkin death. The truth is almost always more complex, but many people prefer their... streamlined views - even the most convoluted conspiracy theories tend to rest on a handful on oversimplifications. Come to think of it, that's why fascism works...

Doesn't add skill, it just removes further options to snipe in the game. If that isn't obvious, just look at the shaking of the jump jets nerfed by all the players who "enjoy" in-your -face brawling at 5kph with LBX/AC's/lasers.

Coming from CS:GO and Battlefield, I find this sad.

Probably the only users that will sympathize with me are the poptart/jump snipers from the MechWarrior 4 days.

you do realize that the meta right now is nothing but poptarts right? it's a problem that is actually killing a lot of the fun in the game. Please also bear in mind that MW isn't supposed to be an FPS but a tacticle mech combat simulator so slow walking tanks would be right, not noscopeheadshot

If you're in an assault getting pwned by any light mech, you've done something wrong or your team has abandoned you...either way, you're likely alone. Speed kills, especially since you don't have any lasers in your back. Having teammates to shoot the thing trying to eat your back armor, however, will save you. Any smart light pilot knows this, and will exploit it...because that's what we're supposed to do.

As far as the Gauss charge itself...many have already noted that it matters not for poptart metas, they just wait to shoot until they release their JJs and the shot is back on target. As for brawlers, I've seen quite a few successful brawlers who still use it in closer combat, in fact it's a favorite build for Cataphracts and Jagermechs even when they aren't poptarting. I keep a Gauss for use on my Shadowhawk as well, and do a surprisingly large amount of damage with it in most matches...including against lights, mainly because I know how light mechs prefer to move in most cases. While I can't say that the charge-up mechanic is necessarily the RIGHT solution (I'd never really used them before it was patched in), it's what we're stuck with now. Go PPCx2 + an AC if you want the Super Shot still...that tears up unwary lights any day :P

I'm actually quite wary of Gauss users as a light pilot. Those projectiles fly fast and are less susceptible to lag/dodgyhitdetection/whatever and well, physically dodging. And might as well be hitscan in MLas range.

There's always some pilots who have some pretty good timing with pre-emptively charging. Only charging it up when you see the target is pretty much doing it wrong.

The funny part is that the game is now a no skill, 0 kph, poptart and snipe with perfect accuracy at 500 meters with pinpoint 30 damage alphas....

Well, MW4, the primary sniping was done within 800+ meters. Also, most "elite" players never pop stationary, rather side to side.

Furthermore, do you honestly HONESTLY think hitting mechs from long range with precision alphas, is EASIER than just running up to a mech and spamming streaks or LRMs or LBX/autocannon/ballistics????

Energy is being serious guys. He comes out of cryosleep and finds the game in this state. To someone that hasnt been punished this last year, it is kind of shocking. That being said.

They dont want to turn it into a so called no-skill, 100m, in your face brawl, they wanted to get rid of all those no-skill in your face Jump Sniper Highlanders.

please, no one honestly could argue that "sniping" takes less "Skill" than "brawling". You may "hate" sniping but EVEN a new player, with 1 day into mechwarrior can rush with ballistics or LRMS. It takes months if NOT years to attain the accuracy to "snipe" targets from afar and on the move, all while jumping yourself. Especially now with the JJ /reticule shake.

And I'm not going no where and I will adapt, just like I did when they nerfed the heat or Large lasers in MW4 ( I was a 7er LL nova pilot DERP DERP..).

in summary, keep in mind I'm merely giving my OPINION out, I'm not saying any of this is "fact" just merely my interpretations of this game so don't bash or get so bent out of shape please.
