I'm messing around with the Locust 3S to take advantage of the Doube XP weekend.

I am loading out 3 SRM 2's and chainfiring. What I am noticing about the single SRM 2 is that the missile spread retains the area of probability of the SRM 6's. This makes them useless at any range that isn't point blank because you can miss both of your shots, while aiming dead at a target that is standing still, at 100m.

I had this happen a couple of times fighting a Victor on Alpine Peak.. not the largest mech but not a light mech, either.

I've noted this on the SRM 4's as well but more shots simply means that it isn't as noticeable.

The spread for both Artemis and non-Artemis SRM's should be based on the pack size .

They shouldn't be, though. They have actually be.. ok when chainfired. I'm not going to rip up the damage charts(well, playing a non MG locust, I'm not going to do that anyways) but I've been able to rip up assaults and slow heavies when I can get point blank on their tail.

I have had decent games with my 4 srm 2 oxide, yeah the spread can be bad, but that thing can cycle through them fast enough to lessen the impact, and alpha all 4 for less of a problem, but I do agree that the spread is a bit too much on the 2.
it is one of those builds where you literally need to hug them. Which can work only if you are being ignored. But I do like chainfiring those srms forever haha

Under 50 meters or you might miss.

I don't find them terrible if you treat them like a small laser or machine guns as far as when you fire them.

Well, good luck with that. Since the flight path change, very few changes to spread was made since then (there was one change AFAIK).

I run quad SRM2s on my Locust and it works better than any of the other potential launcher setups that I've tried (SSRMs require too much weight to work, and the larger SRM packs don't use up enough hardpoints while also firing more slowly).

In general I'd like to see a bit more of a cone in SRM flight pathing (so shorter range shots will group more tightly). Currently there's a rapid spread to a certain (close) distance and then they even out and don't spread more, which is superior for extreme range shots (200m+) but inferior for anything closer (outside maybe 25m or so).

Tell KaZur that. He was one Srm2 away from being toasty in his IV not too long ago. Put some artimis on your mech and stop messing around. When you can constantly stream SRM2s it's a beautiful thing.

You aren't fitting ASRMs in a locust though.
