Are you standing still?? How on earth can someone hit a jenner with an arty or an airstrike when they're doing what a light mech should be doing (moving).
The only thing I can think of is that you run into one, but then you'd have to be able to see the red smoke because it'd be right in front of you. This sounds like a player issue, not a game issue.
Wrong, you easily run into the edges (if not smack into the middle) of arty and air ESPECIALLY in fast mechs. This game is not played on open terrain (mostly). You cut a corner, skirt an obstacle, move for cover, and you can easily slide into a strike you had no idea was coming into an area since you cant see that area but are moving into it very fast. How about moving at the edge of a cliff when the strike is centered on the edge above (you dont see the smoke but the splash area can easily cover the lower elevation that you are in.
"I" can only assume you have no experience with speed and maneuverability (much less terrain elevations and obstacles). [Redacted]

Dumbasses who are clueless to the problem and happy to insult another players opinion are a reason the dev's cant fully grasp how f'ed some things are. Your ignorance creates a smoke screen of bullshit.
Then it's tough luck for you. That's part of the game, sometimes you have bad luck.
As far as me having no clue about speed, maneuverability, terrain elevations, obstacles, and the like, that's exactly what I use to AVOID arty strikes. More often then not, I have teammates in other locations who help call out arty strikes to those who can't see them. It's a team game, so we work as a team to mitigate the damage done by those things. It CAN be done, and as I've said over and over again, there are so many things actually wrong with MWO that it's ridiculous that people get so worked up over random chance events.

Do you realize that some people are good at predicting the path of their target and place artillery accordingly? If someone places artillery at the right location and at the right time, then kudos to them and too bad for the victim. Or do you think everybody just places artillery at the current location of their targets and for all to see?

Because it isn't an error nor is it a bug. You got a direct hit from an artillery shell for 40 points of damage, and it hit you square on the head.
No it didn't. Because my head armor went orange, red, armor then disappeared, then internals went from grey, then flashed to red then flashed again I died.
You weren't there, so why are you spouting out facts that aren't true? You want the screenshot? My whole body is yellow/orange, and my head is missing which got depleted first. - Yes, max armor if you wanna argue about that.
It's bad game design, and PGI needs to fix it. Just because it's within the rules and doesn't come up in debugging or acts normally according to code, doesn't mean it should be happening. It's a mistake and oversight on PGI and they refuse to fix it, and I bet you because they don't know how.

Uhh, no...it's a non-argument about a non-issue. I don't need to see how it happened to you, I've seen it happen to myself...know what I did about it? I lol'd momentarily, told my team-mates about it so they could have a lol about it too-and then I started a new match, moved on with my life.
Cheese and Rice, it's a freaking video game... if it's making you that angry because you died ONE TIME, then you probably need to find a new hobby.

People do exactly that. Hell, that's the entire premise of all the LRM threads. "I WAS KILLED BY LRMS BECAUSE I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF COVER! FIX IT PGI!"

Though you don't see the irony of the Lurm-boat crowd tends to despise arty/airstikes.
Performance anxiety?

It doesn't have to. But in the case of artillery, it is much better if real life does. Otherwise, it just isn't Artillery!
And based on the numerous "Nerf artillery!" threads that already exist, it is obvious that it already has the expected real life psychological impact.

It's wasn't just "ONE TIME", it has happened to me several several times. You're on a roll with making assumptions. And I don't know what you're talking about it making me 'THAT' angry. How angry? Because I fail to see the ANGER. It's definitely annoyance in the lack of care on PGI's part to bother incorporating an actual functional mechanic - when was that again? Hmm, yea...............
First time I died from massive explosions surrounding me, I understand what happened. Second time after I figured out what happened to me the first time, I chuckled and said, "right.. okay".... Let's fast forward to the how-manyth time, and it makes it a little hard to actually enjoy the game when you know the person who can spend 40k a match, peek-a-boo around the corner and put one behind your mech so when you stand there waiting for him to pop out and snipe at you, you can alpha him, but instead, hilarity ensues according to you and because he spent 40k cbills, that means you die.
It's not how frequent this happens is the issue. It is the fact that it does happen is the issue. You get people going "huh what? what is the bs?", and you think it's a "HAHAHAHAHHAHA" situation? It's not, because it's genuinely affecting the ability for players to enjoy themselves, and you don't have a say in what should and shouldn't bother people. And you also assume that everyone needs to take video games lightly? There's a lot of people who take them -very- seriously. But by your mentality, since I take MWO, a video game, seriously then that means I should just... pack up? No thanks

By the way, I'd like to blame you for PGI's incompetency, because it's people like you that they love so much - "Alright!! This guy doesn't think our game is crap. Boo yaaaaaaa! Let's just keep letting him promote our game and help sweep things under our rug for us.".
Take off your rose-coloured glasses, and pro-actively help make this game suck less. I like Mechwarrior.and I want this game to get good. But I'm not ganna pack up and leave something that I'm passionate about just because I have feelings about it, certainly not because someone thinks I'm getting "angry" over something trivial.

Besides all that, I think you are really barking up the wrong tree here- because yes, artillery can hit locations including the head, it just so happens to be powerful enough to get kills once in a while and I've already seen what artillery looks like when it isn't powerful enough.
When it comes down to my gripes about game balance or other issues, artillery doesn't make my top 5 and probably not even my top 10... I'm far more concerned that there isn't a solid tonnage cap or the 3 rule or something, far more concerned about what impact the clans are really going to have when they are released, far more concerned about in game costs (for both C-bills and XP) vs. in game value of certain items or even the resale value of those items if you decide you want something else, far more concerned about what they are going to actually do for community warfare, and way more concerned with them making their maps and game modes better overall...
....yeah, the more that I think about it- you getting killed by artillery because you don't know how to keep moving and/or keep under cover is pretty low on my list of things I think are worthy of concern in this game.

It was against Clan Star Adder, and Mr Blastman and McGral18 were on the other side...ask them about it...in fact, it may have been McGral18's arty that did it...if I can recall correctly...map was Alpine

We did play on Alpine, but I don't belive it was mine. I did hear an exclamation after one strike...so it's very possible that happened.

IIRC, don't artillery shells in MWO come in at a slanting angle, not directly from above? Is that a fixed angle relative to the enemy base? Or the enemy who launched it? Maybe by paying attention to the direction from which it falls you can also lean your mech in a way that minimizes the damage you take.

like, why in the gartanta-**** would this not occur?
your heads a component. with the least armour.
its hard to get headshots with an arty/airstrike.
its SO randomized as to be total luck.
where is the problem?
like...i dont even....
