PLZ fully read this before you ppl dismiss this as another useless lrm thread.
My suggestion is, to not allow to use ammo (and in this regard ALL ammo, not just lrm) in parts of a mech that are not the sam part where the weapon itself is placed or a part right next to where a wapon ios placed.
I truly believe, lrms are underpowered, the problems with them (and to a certain extent with EVERY ammo using weapon) is, that ppl can carry literally TONS of ammo.
No mech in the original mech universe was able to put ammo in his right arm and use that ammo in a weapon in his left arm. MWO does allow this, which why ppl can carry crazy much ammo, which allows the spamming of lrms or any other ammo weapon.
If any amo weapon can only use ammo placed in the same body part or at most in an adjacent part, ppl would have to place all that ammo in 1(!) body part, and thus risking(!) somthing. the death of the mech, when the ammo explodes. for such things CASE was developed, and who in the hell does use CASE? Anyone ever used it?
The amount of mechanics, to have a transportation inside a mech to move ammo from one body part to ANY other body part would be insane ...
Restrict this and lrm/ammo spammwars are much less likely. This would also allow to buff lrms to a point where they are truly usefull.
Right now, carrying a lrm20 is much much less usefull, than carrying 4 x lrm5s. Simply cos lrm5s are much tighter, hit much more the same body part. You can create a constant stream of lrm5 wavs, overloading ams defense (and thats server sided, not a problem of game mechanics).
Using 4xlrm5 will deplete ams ammo much much quicker.
Firing a lrm20 is so sadening. Even with tag and narc and artemis (and line of sight), 50% of the missiles gt shot down, they spread all over the place, and you used up 1/9th of a ammo ton for that.

LRM's are a support weapon. When boated, they are on a "Support" mech. If I had a nickel for how many time my jenner found an mech with only LRM's equiped, this is not the game's fault. It is a Layer 8 issue as we say in the OSI model.
Your Case argument is legit, but that would be a separate thread.
