is it just me or is the PPC+AC or just straight lurms really thick as of late?

just played a match where 9 of the enemy had some combo of 2ppc+ac and the other 3 were just lrm boats.

i mean in the end i could care less because it just means i know that my striker mechs are the go-to solution.

but really it is getting stale to watch my team die consistantly to poptarts.

or to see that most of my team is poptarts anyway thus making things like pushing/brawling an unrealistic tactic.

I've seen this every match.

Its gotten so old that recently I've been trying to ineffectively Paul™ people to death with LBX's or use my good old CTF-1X "Nova Cat Prime" configs.

But yea, its very boring.

Take your time and move inside LRM and PPC range and you should be just fine.

There is really no such thing as a PPC minimum range if his team mate with the same AC/PPC config is 91meters to his left...

Personally, I'm currently testing an XL400 Battlemaster 1D as my own way of "Pauling" people. First match didn't get very good results, unfortunately.

You complain about having PPC/AC and LRMs... but not to long ago it was only PPC/ACs...

I've also been seeing SRMs making a comback. Only weapon I don't see too often anymore are laser heavy designs. If you ask me, lasers need to be adjusted some and we should start to see all the weapons back into common use. (With more tweaks needed of course. We will always need to adjust something.)

because this game is full of scrubs that need a crutch to lean on in order to be competitive.

im not complaining, i guess im asking if other pilots are seeing the same thing i am which is.

are most of the mechs you see some ppc+ac meta? and if so an estimate of how many per match.

cuz im seeing at least 6+ ppc/ac boats almost consistantly, i personally hope 3/3/3/3 will help balance it out, but i mean im seeing dual erppc cicadas/spiders everywhere almost a total lack of traditional lights outside of jenners/firestarters.

dont see any banshees rocking anything but ppc+ac

seen enough poptart victors to make me question the intelligence of the community at large. (which is strange because my "panzer" victors are the perfect counter to poptart victors/highlanders)

seein alot of blimps with totally unrealistic loadouts.

dont think ive seen a misery that isnt rockin a ac20+2ppc in awhile.

idk just seems like 9/12 builds is ppcs+ac. and im like.... cant just be me.

Ah good to see people actually starting to THINK OUTSIDE of the box. Its amazing what you can come up with when you start fiddling around in Smerfy or even think of ways to re-imagine a mech. Like on a BJ, try to ignore the ballistic points on it and make it into an energy boat with PPC/LPL and MPL's. Try bringing up old mechs that no one "sees" or uses, like Dragons and Awesomes. An old Dragon design was UAC/AC5 and twin ML with a big eng, still works to this day despite the UAC jam changes.

We call this the usage of the most game-breaking and/or efficient and/or powerful combination of weapons currently available. Also known as the meta.
We also call this a failure of balancing; as every weapon should have merits and drawbacks that make them favorable or unfavorable depending on the situation, playstyle, etc.

Uncanny how many of those scrubs are competitive 12-mans.

You kind of just answered your own question here. It's basically a situation where the "meta" is self perpetuating, because the best counter to snipers and LRMs is blob up and push to close combat...but having too many snipers or LRMs leads to teams that are too busy "pop tarting" to make a good push. It's possible that the "3 rule" could help by making players switch from heavier "boat" mechs to lights and mediums that are better flankers.

What is this "Pauling" you speak of?

And I find a 400 XL Banshee to be very fun with some Wub.

haha almost anyone who humps the meta is good enough to be on a competitive 12 man, so that means nothing.

mwhighlander used "Paul" as a verb earlier.

It appears to mean something to the effect of derping around.

I guess I mis-typed when I said "Complain". I didn't quite mean it that way... but I think you got my point that before the LRM buff, all we saw was AC/PPCs. Now we still see the AC/PPC but also see LRMs (and SRMs are making a come back). I feel this is good so far and now lasers need to be adjusted to make them just as good.

You ac correct that I do see a lot of PPC/AC mechs out there. I still see more of them than I do LRMs, but it's nice to see the LRMs make a come back.

I still use my Dragon... and it hasn't changed in a long time. (UAC5/LL/2 SSRM2 with BAP.) I also use a Hunchback 4SP with 2 ALRM10s and 4 med lasers and a Std 200 engine. Been that way before the LRM changes. Actually... it was the first mech I bought and shoved LRMs into. (It has gone through a lot of changes over time... but it's always had LRMs in it.) I do well in each of them still...

Who needs meta!? I've never been in the meta!

It's the same mindset: use the meta as a crutch, use a premade as a crutch. Use BOTH and you get an uber-crutch.

So make them streaming weapons? Then they're just lasers with a different graphic. I don't see this as a good solution and I'd rather have variety than homogeneity.

Also because some people would rather just keep repeating "SRM's are broken, can't brawl til they are fixed".

I use em on a lot of my builds, and they work lovely. Maybe I'm just lucky, have some sort of ideal ping, who knows.

I can see this being trolled in matches.

You've been Pauled™ after being killed by PPCs+ACs... occasionally with the LRM.

mwhighlander, you sir win the Internets.
