Okay, I skipped most of the posts so I don't know if this was raised before. But here's the deal.

How is stopping dead people from talking with live people within the game going to stop dead people on teamspeak from talking to live people on teamspeak ?

Answer : It doesn't. So cutting them off merely gives groups using VoIP an even bigger advantage.

What I do after I die depends a lot on who's in the match. If it's a fair fight, I like to give my team tactical intel if I can and watch through teammates' eyes to relay info that they can't because typing in the middle of combat is ridiculous. On the other hand, there are those matches where the other team has 2 sync-dropping premade lances out to farm PUGs and your team has 0 premades. For those, I exit the match within a second of dying so I can drop in another one and hopefully never run into those premades again for the rest of the hour I can play that day.

Long as VOIP = 3rd party program, good teams will have extra pairs of eyes no matter what you complain about.

And oddly enough, it's saved teams. I got blasted early and didn't spectate- and eyeballed the ECM-covered spotters that had the team pinned down. A little TS later and they were able to shift position and it went from 1-5 against to a win.

I've also given newbie scouts map guides on chat, put in data the active guys missed, and so on. You'd be amazed how much people miss when they've got tunnel vision on one opponent.

Even when it's helpful it hard for me to listen because you're dead. You suck for being dead and its highly probable your advice is just as bad.

This thread has some of the vilest slander I have heard in a while. Never have i faced such bigotry against the living impared before.

Sir I say to you i was a Dead Man before the match, and I assure you my advice is ALWAYS good except when it isn't. Being Dead Man in no way affects my skill level, I would simply ask you to think before you continue to slander a large and contributing portion of the community.

Weird.....CounterStrike figured out how to mute the dead people from the living back in it's early beta stage.

Must simply be beyond PGI's capabilities or it would have been part of the CB code....

Muting dead players just gives another advantage to people using 3rd party VOIP.

And that's new how?

Sort of uses that whole "the mech is dead, not the pilot" thing. You're a PUG. Who, exactly, do you have voice comms with?

You take the good with the bad in life.

When I die I often cycle through living teammates and relay the info from different screens that those different teammates either can't or won't relay themselves.

Sometimes that guy that died in 1 minute, died begging for reinforcements and none ever came.

Only to watch that entire flank get trampled and proceed to cut a swath through the entire team.

I am not sure what you are saying here- reading comprehension fail.

Muting dead players would be something new. And something bad. People who use 3rd party VOIP will still be able to communicate while dead and influence the battle, while pugs could not.

Typing in chat is the pug's "voice coms". So they would be talking to the rest of their team using text. When we have in game VOIP then they will have the option of using that as well. Neither should be muted for dead people.

I have saved mechs and one time a win by talking while dead. A smart pilot can cycle through his teammates and get a good sense of the battlefield and help to direct those who are performing badly. Just because you died fairly early doesn't mean you are bad... it means you made a poor choice or got outgunned.

Edit: Just realized Ultimatum X posted basically the same thing. +1

Yes but does our radio still have some power left after being killed? The Mech is dead not the pilot. :D

Only if it is Battery powered Joe. Your Mech got Cored remember. :D

P.S. Easily ignored really. Good advise will be heeded. You decide how to proceed. ;)

Yup, the guy(s)/gal(s) that protected your Right Flank, to prevent your sorry lame ass from getting over run, suck, because they died in defense of the Team. OK then.

Let me write your game name down just in case...

CygnusX7

Ok got it.

Which is another reason to stop forcing solo players to play against grouped players.

If the ranter is bad enough, mute work perfectly well with VOIP apps too.

While there are obviously quite a few ragers who turns being dead into an endless game of recrimination, quite a few dead guys are extremely helpful in sharing information. This ranges from who killed their mech, the state of enemies mech at the time, to people who will mech-hop the remaining team mates and share the collected battlefield information. Kudos to people who share!

As for the endless qq'ing, perhaps a /mute function could be implemented?
