To clarify, I wasn't calling for a topdown MWO. The only Moba component I was suggesting was adding AI opponents that players can quickly dispatch. As another person has already said, Titanfall does this successfully.

The dream game would prob be something like planetside with battlemechs. With portions of large conquerable territory.
That would be great. PlanetSide 2 is a very good game. Also free and i love the faction wars.
I can image us dropping with a dropship in a certain area with no loadingscreen all the time had have a nice firefight on that terrain.

Those AI opponents could be tanks, choppers, jump infantry, etc. for the IS and Elementals for the Clans. There could even be a "boss" AI opponent each player could "summon" only once per match if he met certain conditions (an AI Jenner, Spider or Firestarter).

Moba's don't work in a first person shooter
Look at Titanfall..........and how "horrible its doing".......selling to millions of people and got added to Xbox 1 as a launch game.
1st person shooter , Moba works. A table top nerds perspective is flawed when it comes to video games.......They need to go back to pushing pencils!
Its like a player demanding a Land button to a "pilot simulator" on account he isn't a enough of a twitch gamer to land......and at the same time claim oh look I fly for the clan house of fkn quantum space monkey......And I represent the official BT way.
You could easily prove moba style would be better. Just do a conquest with respawn (without spawn camp) where the win condition is points.
On account of respawning that game would get flooded above all others. It will be horrible in terms of suicidal alpha strikes zombies......But that's where you works out AI aspect, where death might penalize in AI numbers.
Like the AI doesn't have to shoot like the turrets, Ai could be just a fricken truck...............that rides to a conquest point.....and you got to defend it, and when to a point it starts to cap. Troops that can shoot trucks, don't have to be able to damage mechs.
The current Counterstrike mode...is so SLOW..... Jeez what a slow game.
Another aspect is with a respawn type game the pugs might actually get to know each other. Instead of this I don't know who the f you are type get up. cause in 15 mins bye mf I'm not going to see you.
It feels like this game is just catered to country club premies and $500 gold mechs. Cause that's who will pay cause sure the fk couldn't get regular people (younger demograph) to play this...... but with just a quick respawn/moba type they could make a good springboard to the more "serious" game modes desired.
You need Urbanmech in your life. he can show you the way.

I have to say that I do not like the idea of respawning inside the mech that you just destroyed. On the other hand, if you got to pick 2 mechs at the beginning instead of 1 then I think you open up the idea of "respawning". You could limit the weight of the selections or have a hard counter like 1 is an Assault or Heavy and 1 is a Medium or Light. Then allow a destroyed player to re-deploy during the match in his second selection and continue the battle.

But my thought about respawns is a simple NO!
I see this game as a simulation and being so, you better use your time alive to really help the team, once you're destroyed, you stay down and hope what you did in that match was enough to help your side.

Of course TITAN FALL took the advice and are completely kicking ass.
I'd love to see a company make a move with the MechWarrior living legends.

I'd love to see more exploring downtime where you travel in mech. I prefer the respawn battlefield mode to the one spawn counterstrike mode.
Even if they took the conquest game mode, add respawn, and where win is only achieved in points............the game would be 10 times greater. They've done test servers......they should test this once.
No, making this game like League of Legends would absolutely kill the playerbase it has, and you would not pick up any of the LoL crowd.
Not worth it.

Yeah the moba style works Titanfall is the confirmation. We wouldn't draw conclusion that Titanfall is trying to pick up the LOL crowd.
For example MechWarrior 2-4 had "minions". You had heli's tanks, elementals.......to shoot at.
And some missions involved for example defending a vip from one location to another.

They already got turrets and have experience in previous single play games.
Simulation means lets pull out "historic" weapons and not hide in under the table cause clanners are "op".
It means no whining ever over any weapon "balance"
It means letting me retreat off the map and not forced "arena" engagements.
Right now your playing ARCADE mode. And the style is just like "counterstrike". Single spawn, you could prob add rush modes.
I'd be for a no respawn simulation too. But that means all aspects of war for example being outnumbered, low supplies, having no magical knowledge of the enemy. With even possibility of no engagements at all.
Not ready-set-fight.......
F-no lets walk the walk too , as its its just a country club premie shooting gallery where you got folks who never get a chance to build any cohesion or communication pitted against "pros" with worked out strategies.
Respawn is in already if you die you can respawn IN ANOTHER match with a totally new set of people. Who don't know who you are and you forget them in less then 15 mins.
With in match respawn theres opportunity to actually learn your allies even team up. It doesn't have to be the official mode of community warfare, but it could be a springboard for folks to form teams.

That's why I say NO to it, and the day this becomes a feature, I'll just leave and find something else, rather sad knowing this game could be sooo much more.
