I'm right handed, having weapons on the left side of Mech doesn't make them any more difficult to use - I'm still just using my right hand to click the buttons.

Just seems like there's a near infinite amount of things that PGI should work on before getting around to something like this.

For me it's about weapon group purposes, it's not a big thing but it wouldn't affect balance and would be convenient in some cases.

Oops, meant to just edit this into my earlier post, oh well.

The newer mechs have generally a left hand bias in the current meta (balistics) mechs like the quickdraw hero can be fitted out left or right handed.

RL I'm left handed but mech were designed mostly right handed and should remain so, there isn't a drive on the left or on the right situation, so no need to design, for both, and most of the right handed weapon mechs were designed with a left hand,so that a left handed victor pilot can own with an AC20 and sign autographs at the same time.

For me, it's a habit issue. My YLW is right handed, and usually twist right to block with my left arm/torso. When I switch to the Thunderbolt or Battlemaster, I have to remember that my ballistic is now on the left and I have to twist left to protect the left side.

Yep, shield arms on various mechs are also a consideration for sure.

we should have inverted chasis for sale like a "left handed" mech

same hardpoints just opposite so you pick a chasis and then deside a "lefthanded" mech or a "righthanded" mech

examples:
Yen-Lo-Wang with the AC20 in the left hand
atlas with left balistics right missile points

Could the DEVs add a South paw checkbox?

hmm, I really would like the option to reverse my weapons loadout, but wouldn't that be like turning an IS mech into an Omni mech.

It's an interesting idea, for sure.

On the plus side, there has been a recent wave of left-handed Mechs: Shadowhawk, Thunderbolt, and Battlemaster all have their heavy weapons on the left. Arguably, the Banshee is more left-side dominant as well.

I'm going to say not needed, just because I've never noticed any difficulty working out which side of my mech a weapon was on; I mean, I built the thing, I know where the weapons are, and I set the groups. Also because the Devs really do have more important things to work on. If it could be done at the flick of a switch, I've no opposition to that, but like I said, don't see the need.

Thinking about it, I love this idea. How cool would it to NOT always have someone target your right arm in a YLW? I mean the fact that they would have to actually look for the weapon arm to disable it would be great.

For some reason I perform waaaay better with ER Larges on my Shad 2K's shoulder than on any other mech with any other mounting location. I think part of it might be that they're mounted on the left side, and perhaps because they're also grouped to the left mouse button.

No. It is documented in Fluff that Mechs are able to be built/Modified for South Paws.

I agree. I'm left handed and I don't see the point. A mech being "right handed" is no issue for me and a "left handed" mech is no benefit.

And I'm in no way ambidextrous either. I eat, write, listen, look, throw, kick, bat, swing, strum, drum and aim as a lefty. But left handed mechs? Eh, who cares.

For all the folks sighting "I don't get it, I'm right handed and I have no difficulty using weapons on the left...."

IT'S NOT ABOUT DIFFICULTY.

As Myself and others have stated, it's just a personal preference. Again, I'm left-handed and I have No problem whatsoever using weapons on the right side, it's just that I'd like to have My primary gun on the left, just for My own enjoyment. It's not a must have feature, but look at it like this:

In Skyrim, You can customize your character right down to the ugly-assed pock-marks and skin blemishes on His face, even though it's a single player, first person view game, and You're going to be wearing armor pretty much the whole time. You're not going to see You're skin or face, no one else is going to see your skin or face, and it has no impact on the playability of the game whatsoever, But it's so freaking cool and makes the character truly yours.
Also: You can dual-wield in Skyrim, but You can't be truly left handed, as certain functions / controls simply can't be swapped....

In Minecraft you can design Your avatar down to the very pixel. You want to look like a floppy disk with beer cans for limbs? Go for it! even though it has no impact on the game itself, It's flipping awesome, as it again makes the character truly Yours.
Aaaaaaand You can't be left-handed there, either....

I don't play Team fortress 2, but I've seen enough videos about custom graffiti tags and hats which again, offer no advantage to the game, but are there for the pure enjoyment of the player.
Bet You can't be left-handed there, either.

TL;DR:
It's not about "Ermagerd I can't play the game with the gun on the right!", It's just a neat personalization idea, that no video game will ever ******* implement, for some reason.

Maybe if there were an even split between left- and right-handed mechs, teams wouldn't always move to the right. It just makes sense to poke your gun arm out first when you round the bend. To hell with the canon and source material.

I wouldn't care if they added the feature, but I don't understand why it would be needed. Can someone explain this to me?
