Hmm, yes, that just might be cheaper than downgrading, wouldn't it, what with them being so cheap and on sale. : D

However, I only have the one mechbay free, so I'm just going to buy & level 'em one at a time (since I already mastered the light class), leaving the keeper for last.

This is gonna be rough.

Slightly disappointed by my Locust's performance in last night's matches, but then it was just four versus four at peak. I think I need to adjust to the slower speed and lower firepower (compared to the build I used in the public queue), and rely more on the medium laser as my weapon, trying to harass rather than brawl. I look forward to annoying everyone on Monday with this little imp!

Since I mentioned the Locust in this thread, I should point out that "Sassy" performed fairly well in the larger matches on Monday. : )

So I am hoping for a good showing this Saturday, I've got something special cooked up...mission based games.

Nothing major just fairly simple missions similar to basic TableTop scenarios. Extraction and Raid.

I will coordinate them on the Saturday, but if possible I would LOVE to make it a Factional contest as well. One side being Kurita the other Steiner, or Marik/Steiner, or Marik/Liao. Not enough Davion lights, they'd end up having to use too many generic light.

Anyone have thoughts on the Factional idea?

Reminder: Stock 'Mech Saturday is still scheduled for tonight. Although several of our stock regulars are always unable to attend the Sat event due to the current meeting time, we will be trying to get this going all the same. See you there.

Get back in here, Rhaythe! The more people we have chilling in the channel, the more likely others will be to join. If everyone decides not to stay in the channel because no one's in the channel, then it's guaranteed to not happen.

This is the second (third?) week in a row that the Saturday event hasn't been able to get out of the hangar. Tonight, only three people checked in, and never more than two in the channel at the same time.

I'm not one to give up easily on something I've latched on to, but this simply is never going to work if I'm the only one who's determined to make it work. I confess I'm considering giving up completely on trying to have a Saturday event -- there's so little support for it, and these things just can't work without players.

At least there's Monday. For now, at least.

Sometimes it takes longer than twenty minutes. SMM European did indeed get going today, but there was quite a long time where a few of us were just chatting in the channel because we didn't have enough people (or, at least, enough people with premium time).

Every other tournament I've played, I've taken a break to join stock matches; however, this tournament, I'm going to have to miss stock. I want that MC prize.

It was good to finally see SMS get going once more. Too early to comment on the quirks, though, as it was only a handful of people.

I've decided that, for me, at least, the new quirks have made stock matches too unbalanced to be enjoyable. 'Mechs which were already powerful for Tech Level 1 stock matches have been made more powerful, and 'mechs which were already underdogs in Tech 1 matches were made less powerful relative to the average.

Simultaneously, the quirks have dropped average time-to-kill enormously, removing much of the slow-paced tactical gameplay which I valued, and bringing in the more fast-paced "twitch gamer" playstyle which is standard in public matches. Light 'mechs, my preferred class in stock, are now no longer exempt from instant destruction, as they largely were before the quirks.

Meanwhile, in public matches, the quirks have done a fairly reasonable job of making most underdog 'mechs perform better. For the first time since I started playing stock, I find that I'm enjoying stock matches less, rather than more, than public matches. My dear Raven 4X is still a bit underpowered in the public queue, but is now more viable there than in stock!

Since trying to get Stock 'Mech Saturday going was already quite a hassle, and now my primary reason for attending is gone, I won't be doing SMS until improvements to the stock scene arrive (if any). I wish the remainder the best of luck in trying to keep it going.

Its sad to see this end. I can agree that the quirks broke the stock match drops. Those hunchies are more than deadly. Hope we can all stay in touch and maybe build and semi-stock drop setup with restriction but not quite stock. Would love to hear back from everyone.
