Well, they've said a few times before in random threads that it would be nearly impossible for them to implement Clans in the same way as they are represented in table top. The foremost reason for this being that table top dictated different rules of engagement for Clan pilots, and you simply can't force players in the current game format to adhere to something like that.
Although I agree it takes something away from the greatness that is Clan Invasion, I think they are going about it the most logical way. To throw the entire system on its head at this point will only make things worse taken into account how much they've struggled to make decent progress on development.
I like the current system. Yes it has flaws (3/3/3/3 and launch module not working, pay to win elements introduced etc.) but I still enjoy the majority of my matches and will continue to play the game. We can only hope that Community Warfare will be interesting and innovative.
You could have "honor rules" Where clan mechs get the better tech, but if they share a kill, then nobody gets the CB or XP, and there would be no assist bonuses. There would also be no share targets for LRMs,without XP or CB being lost making them essentially direct fire weapons.
Basically the rules of engagement CAN be affected by the reward/penalty system applied to the game. You can go for an overall win using the high-tech, but then you don't get XP or CB.
Under the honor rules engagement system, clan tech would keep the advantages, clans woudl drop in a cluster (10). not 12.
I don't think it woudl be that difficult for them to implement such a system, and it would be a cool thing for them to try (ie make it a choice for players to use) They won't do it however as it's not something they can sell.
