I have seen in a few topics that the Mauler has been announced as an inner sphere mech that uses clan tech and will be released at some point. Can anybody sight a source that is not conjecture for the Mauler being announced by the devs themselves?

If so is there a list of mechs that have been announced apart from the clan mechs?

that list died with the announcement of the flea or orion, not sure.

there are some twitter bits on the mauler from russ, but afaik nothing about reused clan tech.

Oh ok. People in the clan schedule release thread are saying the Mauler like it is a sure thing and has been announced.
Thx for the reply

The Mauler never used clan tech, But it was one of the first mechs to be designed with the lostech discoveries from the helm memory core. Stuff like FF, XL engines and ER large lasers.

Bryan mentioned it on one of the NGNG podcasts that the mauler was one of the mechs they were getting in to the game at sometime.

Clantech on a Mauler is wishful thinking and nothing more. The Mauler itself is semi confirmed as being in concept stage via Russ` tweets , but that doesn`t explicitly mean it will actually ever be introduced, even though Paul said they`d like to someday...

Here is a quick link for more detailed information regarding the Mauler...http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mauler

While it is a favorite of many Mechwarriors and Battletech players due to it's appearances in MW2, MW4, and TRO 3050, it has never come equipped with Clan technology by default.

The Mauler is an Inner Sphere design and it isn't likely to appear in MWO because it lacks the three default variants of the current timeline to be viable for consideration. The MAL-1R is released in 3048 and the MAL-1C that uses a C3 slave module (technology that doesnt exist in MWO because all mechs are already afforded C3 capability without it) is released in 3051. The next available variant doesn't appear until 3060. I wouldn't mind seeing the Mauler but at the same time I am not holding my breath either.

They could also make a Hero Mauler to give it 3 chassis, I also bet they could make up a Mauler variant. We've seen that they are willing to make up mechs.

Using a Hero variant as one of the three variants is a bad, bad idea. Forcing players to have to spend real money to be able to Elite a Mech chassis is likely going to be met with rage.

Umm the Orion's already out...

As for the number of variants, there are a few ways around that but meh.

The Mauler only has one variant available in the 3050 time slot. Doubtful that it'll be available till at least 3060.

True I was just meaning that they are open to making up variants. So far that has only been in hero mechs but hopefully they are willing to differentiate a bit. The Mauler is the perfect mech to start that

PGI only follows canon when it suits them.
If they cared about canon, (or game balance for that matter) we wouldn't have big slug throwing ACs instead of rapid fire cannons.

While technically correct (the best kind of correct) the Mauler has two precurser designs that were both 90 ton chassis.

The Daboku was the succession wars era variant of the Mauler it used no lostech save for two CASE systems. The Daboku was armed with 2 large lasers 2 LRM 10s and 4 AC2s used a 270 standard engine and 12 SHS.

The Daboku it's self was based upon an abandoned Capellan design the Linesman. The Linesman was developed along side the Cataphract but it soon became evident that budget issues would only allow one of the new designs to reach mass production. The Cataphract won out the debate and the 5 prototype Linesman mechs were gifted to McCarrons Armored Cavalry and the blueprints sold to Luthien Armor Works as part of a tech exchange program.

The Linesman was armed with 2 medium lasers 4 AC2s and 2 LRM15s but otherwise was a Daboku.

So with only a bit of fudging of the canon there can be 3 variants of the Mauler by 3050 in use.

Its a pit really. I always enjoyed tooling one up with a Thumper or a LongTom and shelling my opponents on MW4

The Mauler was announced as something they were actively concepting. That suggests that it should be one of the upcoming Assault options.

As others have said, it will not use any Clan tech. Rather, it will be released alongside one or another of the Clan mechs (which will start to arrive for MC/C-bills beginning in July). PGI plans to release IS mechs in parallel to the Clan mechs to keep those IS loyalist pilots happy.

There are plenty of mechs to toss around from the 3050 TRO that have enough variants though

Archer (70t), probably never because of HG tight fisting the rights to it
Black Knight (75t) again probably not, being that it's a full on energy boat
Champion (60t) a mixed set of hard points, a maybe
Charger (85t) another mixed set of hard points and JJs, could be.
Clint (40t) basically a heavy Commando
Crusader (65t) on of my old time favorites, how can you go wrong with hard points in the legs...
Cyclops (90t) could we go for a 90t atlas??
Dervish (55t) a 55t missile boat anyone?
Falcon (30t) hmm, basically what the spider wanted to be and big ears to boot. Maybe a mickey mouse themed hero??
Flashman (75t) BIG laser boat, umm, not I this ghost heat, weak dhs universe.
Guillotine (70t) kinda plain, but a missile launcher box instead of a head... maybe headless horseman, Ichabod Crane hero??
Hatamoto- (80t) would be interesting to see the art teams interpretation on a big metal samurai
Hermes (30T) already have a two hard point ecm bot
Hoplite (55t) a two hard point medium ... yeah maybe not
Hornet (20t) a locust with JJs...oh humanity
Hussar (30t) a light with fewer hard points than a spider and NO JJ or ecm, no thanks
Imp (100t) just think, a REALLY big brother of the Urbie. w/o JJs
Javelin (30t) a jumping ecm missile boat
King Crab (100t) the thing would be ALL CT
Lancelot (60t) anorexic Jager, could be
Marauder (75t)... DAMN YOU HARMONY GOLD
Mongoose (25t), a smaller, ground bound Firestarter
Phoenix Hawk (45t) Iconic Looks, but it belongs HG, I think
Rifleman (60t) again,I curse you HG, I curse you
Sentinel (40t) and Egg with legs and guns... would have too hard a time hitting it through all the tears of laughter
Shogun (85t) a missile boating dragon with tail fins from a 58 caddie.
Urbie (30t) enough said
Vindicator (45t) a jumping zombie bot with a HD energy hard point and a missile CT, count me interested
Vulcan (40t) ballistic, energy, and JJs, can we say 40 ton poptart
Warhammer (70t) once again, I really hate that half witted animating company HG
Wasp (20t), lighter than a spider can we say impossi hit boxes
Whitworth (40t) jumping missile boat with a spot for it's Tag laser
Wolf Trap (45t) mixed hard points a could be
Wolfhound (35t) yah, because we need another light laser boat to keep the firestarter company
Wyvern (45t) yet another jumping missile humper.
and finally
the Zeus (80t) the OTHER iconic Steiner mech

That is plenty of Chassis that have enough variants in time line to go to before we have to start using heroes to fill out the required three variants to master a chassis.

Forgot Grasshopper? Big energy boat heavy with JJs (70t) and an lrm launcher. One variant has some star league upgrades (er large and a ssrm2) the other one has some replacement energy with larger energy ppc.

Vindicator, Mauler, and Flea are likely the next three IS mechs. The new heavy hasnt been announced yet. But its likely either the Grasshopper or the Black Knight.

Black Knight or Grasshopper tough call, grasshopper laserboat with a missile slot and jets, or a laserboat without jets. guess I would go for the Grasshopper.

There is its predecessor as well http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Daboku made in 3038. That dose make for 3 :)
