As long as I can remember I have always hated the Jenner (talking since it was in the first PC games). Regardless of the variant, it just wasn't the mech for me. After putting in time with Commandoes, Spiders, Ravens and Firestarters, I finally made my way back to the Jenner. I have a JRF-D (Founder Version so I figured it was time to do something to Master it out. To that end I went ahead and took some time with smurfys and decided to make my variants, not the meta but how I felt like playing it.

JRF-K (3 ML, 1 TAG, 1 LRM10, XL300)
JRF-F (6 SPL, XL300)
JRF-D (4 ML, 2 SSRM, XL300)

I have to say, I had a blast. I am unsure why, but getting out running this mech as fast as they go was fun. The long range bomber of the LRM10 made for some serious points and nothing said loving like duking it out with the SSRMs on Mediums.. .Oh and the pleasure of the 6 SPL was good times as well, either for the fun of the light show or the fact it worked well on the lights I encounters.

So... you heard my story... What is your story about playing with your least favorite mech? Did you end up liking it in the end? Did you find something about it that made it acceptable on some level?

Cicada. Hated them on the battlefield. Thought they were a really underwhelming medium and anything the Cicada could do, the Jenner seemed better.

Until.... I bought my X5 on a whim. Then the 3M, and the 3C. Easily the best times I have had were in my Cicadas. I wont list the builds, they have covered everything from Mini-Jesters, to a dual AC2 fire suppression mech that easily lands me 400-500 damage and a couple of kills a match.

TL:DR
Cicada.

Awesome 8Q. In Battletech it was an extremly awesome (haha!) mech, in MWO energy only mechs are ****** like hell, except light mechs.

Anything with forward facing knee joints :P

Ok, in seriousness...

Design wise, never cared for the Cicada. It reminds me of a house on legs. It's bascially Baba Yagas hut from Quest for Glory.

See, can hardly tell them apart!

Runner up is the ugly Highlander and Jagermech.

Hut of brown, now sit down. :)

My least fav would have to be the Atlas. If I'm going to pilot something that huge and slow, I'd expect it to be able to do some decent tanking, especially in a MMO. A mech I'm slowly warming up to is the Dragon but I don't try to pilot mechs that don't fit my play style often so it's going to be a while before saying "I love it now".

I think you missed the gist of the OP.

What mech did you hate, but later came to like/love?

Yea, I suppose I was too eager to make the Baba Yaga reference LOL.

In MWO...

Ok, The Cataphract. It is a bit ugly and unweildy. When I saw it, I wanted no part of it.

Then came the Ilya Murromets. It had a good balanced loadout and had the 30% C-Bill bonus. It was my first Hero Mech and probably still my favorite to this day. The Cataphract was the mech I disliked, but came to like and appreciate.

P.S. Not counting MWO, but Mechwarrior in general. The Catapult. I was such a fan of the Timberwolf/Madcat that I was excited to see a "similar" designed IS mech existed. Once I saw it....Uggghh It looked homely. I did learn to like the look and appreciate it though. Even in Mechcommander, I tried to run Catapults fairly often. I was glad MWO made the Catapult look as cool as it does (although the PPC barrel/Missile Pod changes are pretty attrocious).

Cataphract. Could not figure them out early on. Bought the Muro WAAAAY back when it was the first or second Hero. Recently, I've found my groove (even after all the AC/5 Nerfs). Love this mech....

I have to admit the Atlas was an interesting response. I think it pops a little earlier then I would like but still seems top tanker for me.

Muromets...

Messed around with it a bunch and was ready to relegate it to the bench... then I added 3 LBX to it, and I can't stop laughing when I play, I'm just having too much fun

The only Cataphract I like!

Thunderbolts. Muscled them to Master, but wow not fun. Sold so fast.

Non-meta Cicadas were a little depressing, since you could be outrun and outgunned by mechs 5 tons lighter than you.
