Mastered 3 Buckets, and somewhere halfway through a fourth before I gave up. They got the Bucket all wrong from the beginning - too afraid to give them the missile capabilities they should have, too big, too much straight jacket.
Saw this come up, nice paint, but unless they overhaul the TBT en masse I don't see this being any less of an outlier than the chassis in general.

I'm all about the Trebuchet-5J, it's currently My primary medium, but I'll pass on this one.
It's not a bad design, at least this one's got it's weapons spread evenly across the chassis, unlike My 5J (Glob, what I would give to move three of it's energy hardpoints off of the arms and do a 1 LT, 1RT, 1CT, 1 LA, 1 RA setup), But I can't help but think that if you wanted a jumping medium srm platform, the Griffin or Wolverine might be the better bet.
I sort of like the paint job, though.

No, the Griffin has that huge missile hitbox which made it DOA and the Shadowhawks legs and size make it DOA....
I mean, all those folks who just saw pics of it before Phoenix was released were right werent they?
If the treb was shrunk by about 10% it would do a lot for it imo.

Though I wonder what Clan Ghost Bear's warhorn would sound like?
(For the love of god don't do a generic horn blow. But if you do...make it a bugle!)
That Video is so damn epic. If LRMS acted like that in the current game I would convert instantly from FLD.

They do on older mechs with smaller tube counts. Stalker side torsos, CTF 2X left arm, Commandos, Victors (due to low tube counts), etc.
But yeah, since it's not on everyone else it isn't so great.
For now you can still do that exact same thing on a Raven 3-L by using the left arm launcher.
(Clan LRMs are supposed to do that, but much more rapidly on all their LRM and Streak launchers.)
Now if you mean the wild flight patterns... that's another story. I miss it. Far less CT-focused damage back in the day, not to mention so much cooler to watch.
"Oh wow! Missiles that take out legs; now available for MC."
(Joke in the second match, as an LRM kill destroyed both enemy legs before removing armor elsewhere).

The extra missile hardpoint is a NARC tube (unless they changed it this patch). The best you could do is with the SRM2/SSRM2.

We'll be getting a hero for the chassis for today's patch. Here's the sneak peek from NGNG.
Wonder who from NGNG designed this one (had to)
The thing that kills me is that they name it after an actual named historical trebuchet and then they F it all up by putting short ranged weapons on it. Furthermore, who mixes normal SRMs with Streaks? They spent 4.5 tons, not including ammo, for what could have been two more SRM4s. Hell, they could have dumped the Streaks and the Pulse Lasers and put Artemis IV on the hull. I swear, I haven't a clue who it is that they talk to about building mechs but they seem get worse from patch to patch.
But hey, at least this thing has AMS on it. Still hurting from the "But it can run backwards at 75% of its max speed!" comment from Garth on why the X-5 didn't come with AMS. /facepalm

Well, the difference is that the Trebuchet is a KNOWN quantity.
After discussion about the hero Quickdraw (a known entity prior to the patch)... a week later after its release, I proceed to see FEW to NONE of them in any match.
The Trebuchet will follow the same route.

I use SRMs, but not on the Trebuchet. The arms would be shot off too easily.
An LRM5 would actually be useful.

I guess that you could run it like a jump capable Kintaro that is 5 tons lighter or the afore mentioned Griffin. This thing is just so extremely lackluster, I don't even know where to begin. I'm not really a Treb fan anyway and only ever ran one back in my TT days as part of my Chicken Little artillery mech group (the Whitworths were my favorites). But, you can't arm shield with it cause you're going to lose 2 out of 6 hard points. And, depending upon the tube counts, you're not guaranteed that you could go with an empty arm for added defense. Would you think of running a PPC and LRM5 spamming w/ a max engine? Would you down grade the speed and go as big on missiles as possible?
Poor thing isn't going to amount to much. Then again, the NGNG heroes haven't come close to doing anything anyway. But, is that the design or the mech that the design is on?
