A word of advice, it's pretty clear that the more constrains you place on matchmaker, the longer it is going to take to resolve conflicts; and since your algo isn't best fit and depth-limited as far as we can tell...this is going to suck forever.
This should be a design problem, not a programming problem.

All times are for solo drops
Firestarter 11 min (matchmaker claimed lights were queuing fastest)
Firestarter 13min the cancelled.
Jagermech - 12 min then cancelled
Jagermech - 9 min
these wait times are unacceptable, In the last hour I've spent the bulk of my time waiting not playing, you need to restore matchmaker to the way it was before this patch I almost never had to wait then and if a match was sometimes unbalanced so what? most of the games I played in were good enough to make me want to play and keep playing. Now I can't play and am just irritated at wasting an hour so its off to LOTRO.

This is AFTER waiting anywhere from 3-30 minutes to get into a match. Matches are taking far less time than the waits to get in.
By the way, last match had 5 Assaults on my team. We rolled the other team 12-2. They also had 5 assaults, I believe.
Update: Last match, 5 heavies on my team. 7 minute wait to get in. 12-2 win.

Heavies are my favorite weight class. I thought about preordering the Timber Wolf and Summoner, but I have no desire to if I'm going to have to wait 10+ minutes to get them in a match.
I will try playing again Friday night. If the wait times are too long, I'm taking a break until next patch.

Matchmaker tweaking 5/20/14.
You gave it a shot.
Its not working. There will never be a way to satisfy all the players on every match.
Regarding the matchmaking on weight class - forget trying to "even things out" with 3/3/3/3. The random drops are fine. That's one of the things that adds variety to the game. Some games go great, some don't. Either way, there's always the next match just a few minutes away.
You can even play over and over again with your friends on the same team.
That's that way it was working until today.
There's not ever going to be a way of perfectly balancing things for every game and every match. This is a game of attrition and violent conquest - not one of democratic fair fights.
Let the roll of the dice dictate the matchup and let people jump into matches quickly and together, if that's what they want.
Put things how they were. No one gets experience waiting on the damn match to lock.
Please, its ruining the game experience.
PS. I wrote this comment during a wait for a match. Its been 15+ minutes - and then I lost connection to the server.
Please fix this.

10 - 15min waits, finally get into matches and either have 2-3 DC on each team, people are afk for matches.
I feel bad for new players, wanting to buy mechs as well. Hell I am trying to get one and I have to wait a hour just to get 1/50th the cbills needed for the mech alone, not to mention upgrading it to be any good.
3/3/3/3 was a ok idea on paper, in practice it is terrible. If you want to balance things like that, do it for clan matches (You know, like that match where a team was all UAC5 jagermechs...), do not do it to PUG players, it slows the game to a crawl.
Please fix this mess PGI

10 minute wait in a Light. Error no match found 15 minutes in a Medium. No match found Re-started client and 12 minute wait in a medium and then the server went down.
FYI there was a 4 man team playing at the same time finding drops with in 3 minutes

and, since i never 'gripe' without a suggested fix to make it constructive, the cicada should be put in with the lights in matchmaker, since that's how it's being played.
