I'm a developer, and I understand the frustration of having to roll back a feature because it didn't work (had a release hard crash on low memory systems, hazards of developing on a 16 GB machine with latest OS).

That said, I'd like to re-iterate my suggestion on the other thread regarding load testing and add something:

- Turn off Premium time consumption during said load testing.
- Announce ahead of time that said load testing will occur and for how long it will last.

PGI: Please listen to this man!

Would save tons of rage including mine.

I got an idea. how about one bucket 3/3/3/3, R&R, And no teams for those who want it. And another bucket teams/solo's bring what you got and play like we have had. And leave it to it.

I have had no real issue with the (EDIT, OLD) matchmaker. Pretty much only whiny nerfherders really have to date...

They did do that. Karl Berg posted in his superthread that they ran the new algorithm through production data, and the average queue time was less than 50 seconds. In theory it was supposed to work, in practice it didn't. That unfortunately happens all too often.

So you are telling me that PGI did test this patch?

The weird thing is my first match relatively soon after the patch was quick, and it degraded from there. The longer the day went on, the longer the delays became, and I was playing just medium mechs. In theory the short queue should have remained almost instant and the assaults would have had a long delay, but apparently there is an issue in the MM that didn't work that way.

I didn't see that blog. Good to know they were trying. It sounds like they did locate the live error this time.

I'm still hoping they drop the 1 group per side limit, as well as keep the 4 mech ceiling.

Did the Hot Fix actually go live? Cos I'm reading the forums and it certainly doesn't sound like it did the trick.

Enjoy. It'll take a while to get through it, but it's EXTREMELY useful info in there.

im guessing it was already discussed internaly, but i would like to propose this algorythm for the matchmaker anyways:
1. take 24 mechs from the waiting queue that fit the 4x3 criteria.
2. take the elo of the 6 assaults and add them together and divide by 2 > store that number.
3. take the 3 assaults that come closest to that number and put them on teamA, rest to teamB
4. same for heavys, whichever team got less combined elo-score with the assaults, now gets the higher combined heavys.
5. repeat for medium and light.

its fast and its balanced, but most importantly you dont need 24 people of the same elo in just the right mechs.

So do this whole attempt again, warn us in advance so those willing can try to test it and those who do not want the hassle can avoid it. Make it a x2 XP and x2 C-bill day.. that will run on top of premium time (as a bit of a reward to those who have premium time running during these down times) use something like MWOLobby to get 200+ people on to all try to drop at once test it stress it.. whatever. We are here because we want this game to make it..we are stuck with each other :P

I'm still getting very long queue times, five minutes plus. Maybe reverting 3/3/3/3 helped some, but at least in my case queue times are still very long. Maybe something other than the matchmaker is holding things up (i.e. thousands of players pinging the weight class charts every second)?

20 minutes now - can't make a single drop. Wow, it has become unplayable. I actually can't play... This makes the 'improved' UI2 seem, well, less impressive...

Don't change anything! Having a great time now where more or less every player is in premade and the matches are intense, lots of tactics applied and very close, thanks PGI!

I thought you guys only had yesterday off, not today as well
Nothing today but a patch that rendered the game unplayable and filler.
No balance, no tweaks, not a single update, not even info on clans which are less than a month away.
I come to expect announcements only on patch days now because I'm almost convinced it's the only time you guys are actually at the office.
How exactly did this company convince M$ to let them play video game developer?
