Poptarting is at a place where you actualy need some skill to do it so i'd say it's ok

No..no you dont....autohotkey macro and 2 games to learn timing and your done unless your PC or connection is crap.

Macro? Really? Why? To do what?

No, nothing is to be done about it. All the players need to do is figure out what their team has and, often the winning team rushes the poptarts if they can. No skills in poptarting, even i can do it to some degree, and if i can do it then it must be easy.

Flamers kill poptarts pretty well if you can get close enough.

I wonder how much of a difference increasing ghost heat cap for large lasers and lpl by 1 would do. 15 tons of LL, 27 damage (yeah, over time) and 21 heat vs 14 tons, 20 damage (pinpoint) and 20 heat.
Thoughts?

You people cry about poptarts, yet refuse to find something else thats better? You cry about it taking no skill yet leading your shots from long range is harder then any hit scan or lock on weapon? Think before you post, you guys say the "meta" is boreing yet if the "meta" was all srm brawling you would all be crying about how its no skill and you wish that snipeing would be legit. Meta is what is the best at the present time. Now revaluate your playstyle stop blameing things and get better.

Allow me to summarise the basic complaints of people who don't like jump sniping; or, more generally, give an overview how scrubs think when it comes to MWO.

Quote

Scrub argument #1:

I wanna LURM everyone and pretend I'm a turret! OMGLOLOL! Eat the LUUUUUURRRRRMS, biatches! Huh, WTF, I'm cored! Someone is using cover and, like, aiming or something. I'm going to QQ on the forums about these no skill foos!

Quote

Scrub argument #2:

TROLOLOLOL AC2s are sweet I love standing in the open going dakakakakakakakakakakakakaka! Die! Die! Die! Huh, WTF, I'm dead! It's so unfair that people are shooting and hiding behind cover. How am I supposed to dakka them?!

Quote

Scrub argument #3:

I've made a sweet Awesome config that pwns everyone at all ranges, yeah! It's got an XL160 and none of my weapons have complimentary ranges, recycle times, and deliver their damage directly, indirectly, both front-loaded and over time. Come at me, bro! WTF, why won't anyone die?! OMG, hacks, that guy keeps putting alphastrikes into my side torso hit box every time. OMG, I'm dead! I'm off to the forum to RAGE!!!

Quote

Scrub argument #4:

I like to roleplay Aidan Pryde and enjoy the Battletech board game whenever I am not busy working on my neckbeard. Who are these freebirths running non-canon builds? They are using contractions, too! I am off to the forums to pen a sternly worded complaint. May Kerensky forgive their sins, seyla!

Pinpoint damage needs a serious kick in the @ss. ALL autocannons need burst fire, not just the clan ones. And PPCs need arcing damage too. Thats the first step towards better weapon balance and getting rid of ghost heat once and for all.

Can I link this in my signature? But u forgot to make LRMs to fire&forget weapons with direkt flight path and only indirect fire when TAG or NARC is on the target.

This thread brought to you by Kelloggs. Tastes great; less gameplay.

I don't like jump sniping. But that's because it bores the snot out of me. I don't mind shooting jump snipers, though. And it does get mind-numbingly stupid to lose a game because half your team is putzing around in a Cataphract 3D with nothing but PPCs.

Dude, with that many PPCs... your team should be cleaning House! :D

I love talking smack about poptarts but you have to respect how viable it is. Only PGI is going to change that.

I am a bit long in the tooth for my parents to have to come back here and set things straight. If I can resist the urge to Pop I can safely assume more can.

nly PGI can fix it, if the see it a as problem. I hope the current tournament and further events will expose the imbalances in game even to the Devs.

Not only that, but a little jump shooting is colorful and adds flavor to a brawl. The mentality behind designing mechs solely to take advantage of it becomes the real issue.

Nothing will be done about poptarts by PGI because they won't change the custom/loadout system, because

1 They sold the game on an open custom system (sadly)
2 If they found the balls, to actually rebuild it more like canon (assault poptarts would become an endangered animal overnight) the I hate you PGI posts would follow in greater numbers than ever before.

is there anything you can do, well get a group of people and rush the poptarts and lurm boats.

Is this likely in a PUG no, because people in pugs think about my mech getting damaged and my K/D ratio, not our team and our victory

Pretty sad that we have to have Mom and Dad police our actions in game.

If they did a proper job teaching them sportsmanship in the first place....

Just because someone is allowed to act like a D-bag doesn't mean they should.

That's why this is one of my favorite NSFW shirts. :D

Key word right there.

Replace PPCs with large lasers and I bet most poptarts would be lucky to get 3/4 of the beam to even hit the target, much less keep the lasers on an individual body part for the entire duration, all whilst still midair.

I should make a poptart build with lasers and gauss, and I will dub thee, "The skillful meta."

My Heavy Metal is actually exactly this: 3LL and 2 AC5s. You *can* poptart in it, but you don't feel like a ******-infested bottom-feeder when you do. Not that all poptarters are ******-infested*.

*all poptarters have ******
