It's actually worse. People complained bitterly about head shots from missiles. As a result, cockpits were given "force fields" that protect them from missiles.

Sigh!

Considering that heads have a max armor total of 33, compared to their CTs... plus the shape of various cockpits favor certain mechs than others (Atlases and Jagers for instance)... yea...

@Russ;

Thank you for the answer and expedited solution.

Hey, this is great though! They clearly found a way to balance Clan lightweight LRMs with no minimum range if this is part of the Clan missile patch ;) C'mmon, June!

So basically clan LRMs will be less effective than IS LRMs at any range except max range.

Ya know, when I fire off a Hellfire or a Maverick, I'm always sure to enable my progressive fusor. The closer it gets, the weaker the bang!

... wait.

If real military weapons acted like this... we'd be screwed.

As I've said elswhere, accepting games as broken by default is not a sustainable point of view. That road ends with having to pay for patches and updates.

Hmm. That seems to work for Oracle, IBM, and Microsoft. ;)

Does this mean when it's fixed srms and ssrms will actually be viable weapons again?

Or should I keep my ballistic/ energy builds handy?

Because although 3x srm6 should hit Like an "LB-36X" (if they existed) lol it hits more like an LB-5X, tends to be real nasty on heat, and generally isn't that useful to brawl with anymore. Unless the enemy is super critted and for the heat I wish I had MG's not for nothing at that point. :/

No matter what itll be a lie. SRM's were supposed to be fixed. They aren't now they wont ever be. We have been mislead and lied to for over a year. Oh and if they do get fixed Paul will nerf them back to 1.5 damage but keep the long range meta going. Screw the way they handle things here. Screw em period. If I wanted to be lied to I would go listen to the government. Fraggin ********.

Not enough hubris in this thread. There isn't even an angry post from a butt-hurt missile boater screaming about how the meta warriors won over the devs and got them to make a change to their "only" hard-counter. Thought we were a community of dissenters. I've never been so disappointed in my life.

Well, a shame it took me going to draconian extremes to get people's attentions, but thank you for at least acknowledging the issue. I would really like to enjoy my shiny new "Loup de Guerre" I bought before finding out 66% of it's hardpoints were currently useless.

Even though you find me a nuisance, just keep in mind that many of us who are talking are still financing this game, and want it to succeed.

Actaully, they appear to be scaling. At minimum range, they are doing closer to 1/10th damage. at 500 meters half. Have a feeling (might test it), at 1000 meters they might do full. In fact, if the client permits, I think I'll drop into the testing grounds right now.

Honestly your posts last night led me to test it. Yeah you were irritated but you still made your point clearly. A lot of us want this game to succeed and while you aren't a white knight you aren't downing on the game for no reason.

Nope it's not....but unlike other games it doesn't happen veryyy single time they release a fluff patch.

Apparently they added in clan code so it's not entirely fluff.

As I'm often reminded by a cetain PGI GM, remember folks, you are playing this game for free...

Except that's not true for anyone who has ever bought MC, let alone used it to buy Premium Time, nor is it true of the Founders.

Not really a valid comparison, is it? Their products generally form an integral part of an infrastructure and are not easily replaced. You pay to support these products long-term because you expect to be locked into them long-term. And generally you do expect them to work as sold because more often than not, they do.

MWO is a game, and we could easily choose to play something else, as is true of any game. But accepting that a product should be broken on arrival by default and then incrementally fixed afterwards is something of a unique mindset that seems to be restricted to gamers. Nothing else works this way, but we as a group accept it. We shouldnt.

Hm... And when you go to the MWOmercs homepage, all you see is new "stuff" for sale. No mention of, hey, we're working to fix all the problems we keep creating. Nope, no mention of it at all. MAYBE YOU ALL SHOULD TRY COMMUNICATING WITH THE CUSTOMERS INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO FOCUS ON STUFF THAT COSTS REAL MONEY. No, apparently thats too hard. Instead we'll bury these posts in the forums. All is well, nothing is wrong, buy all our new Heros and Champions.

Sorry to say it, but you all SUCK.

Here is how it goes. PGI is planning to make Clan LRMs do less damage within 180 meters, on an exponential curve. PGI accidentally applied that damage curve to IS LRMs, but the range at which the curve starts is a lot higher than 180 meters (probably starts out at 1000!). This might also apply to Streaks and even regular SRMs at the moment.
