You saw it here first! Your missiles are more likely to kill you than take off an enemy's arm!

Then again.... when did that get recorded?

My guess would be before they turned of the splash damage.

They never actually turned it off. IIRC, Paul had it narrowed to .05m or something trivial. In the video, it looks like the Shadow-hawk is in full on clipping mode with the target. Just curious, though, Vass what more can you tell us about this little gem?

LOL. Your SRMs are actually splashing BACK on you for hideous levels of damage while inflicting nearly nothing on the target. Guess it reads it's damage reduction for distance code as "hurt you even MORE" if the range is a negative and/or it's attempting to divide by zero.

Duplicated this on my HBK-4SP. However, it only worked vs. a CN9 target dummy. Have to move up so that the AC10 arm is in your chest, then fire point-blank. Nearly took my own head off with 4 volleys of 2xSRM4.

They've already given a possible reason. They put some code in for the Clan LRMs with the last patch. That's the only thing that they changed in the patch that had to do with missiles, so it's the only possible culprit.

All missiles adopted a scaling damage range: full damage at max range, 0 damage at 0 meters.
Closer you were the less you did.

well I'll be able to log in once its fixed.@Koniving- And ofcourse firing missiles at 1k range with there travel speed and your ability to hold a lock even with bap and adv sensor range and adv target decay is desirable :D .

Are you expecting that SRMs will actually work correctly after this Hot Fix? Or by "balanced" do you mean how they were on Monday?

Well, Vassago's video (linked a couple times in this thread) is showing major hilarity in self-dealt splash damage.

I was too pissed off to do real testing at my own expense, with my premium time draining during this whole fiasco. Two days right down the drain. :D

I actually killed myself with my own streaks. I swear they bounced off the back of a Raven's rear torso. There were no other mechs around, especially not within streak range. Yet it read I killed myself with streaks. Glad to hear this got resolved.

It's funny. I haven't played for at least a couple months. I just got involved with a new Table Top group at the local game store, so I've been kind of BattleTech pumped for the last couple days. I was going to actually play yesterday, and then today... But no way I am logging in until they clear this disaster up.

Splash was never turned off. They simply made it 5 cm.

The cent has his arm almost clipping through the shaq's CT, who then shoots the arm. Magically, the confused missile code decides that hardly any damage should be dealt to the 48 lifepoint cent arm, while splash combined with normal SRM self-ouch swiftly depletes shaq's 101 CT lifepoints.
