Before the patch earlier this week, I was having a great time with my HBK-4P, 9 ML+18 DHS setup, 500-600 damage, 3-5 kills almost every match. When having no heat, I ran up close and do alpha strikes with all 9 ML. Yeah, yeah, ghost heat I know ;-) But all those shiny beams, ohhh ;-)
It worked great, damage output was as expected, got mechs cored pretty easily with this.

Now, after the patch, also after the hotfix: After an alpha strike with the 9 ML right into center torso of a IV-FOUR (which headed stright towards me), the center torso armor only barely got yellow. I circled a bit to cool down and fired 2 more full alpha strikes, at the end the IV-FOUR still had center torso armor left. I tried again for several matches, same result.

So, does somebody else noticed that ML damage output got reduced somehow with the last patch or is it just bad hit registration for me? Ping is 120-150.

Actually noticed the same running my HBK, thought I was doing a poor job keeping the beam on target but after 2-3 games I gave up on the HBK for the night.

(Please note, it might still have been me keeping beam on target :) )

My everyday MWO experience, it is the hit registration

When I did a testing ground run, the damage seemed ok. So quite likely hit registration. :-(

But why it works on some days? Grmph :-(

When I initially tested the HBK trial, it worked so well, I was really surprised.

I was leveling a firestarter after the patch and put two salvos of 4 medium lasers into a dc'd jenner, rear rt, Zetti damage. When I did it to the rear ct it did full damage. Hit boxes or hit registration or both have been bad since beta.

Actually, in that specific gif, it looks like the issue might be a ninja invisible barrier that's cockblocking your weapons fire. At least, that's what I hope is going on...

Na, what actually happened was that the quickdraw turned after the beam duration finished and the damage was applied to his LA, instead of the torso i was shooting at. So i did a 25 damage alpha on his torso to only kill a red internal LA and do no other damage.

But it took like 2 seconds after i started shooting for the quickdraw to take any damage at all, which is just sad.

It looks like you were hitting invisible wall geometry there.

Admittedly there are MANY times where my lasers won't do damage at all on a clear shot... They just shoot like a laser pointer sometimes...

No not really, those invisible walls work that way, one of my only problems with this game is the abundancy of invisible walls.

Pin point accuracy cuts both ways...

It's an invisible wall. You can tell because the reticle's rangefinder says it's like 29 meters, and the Quickdraw is about 80+ meters away.

BTW, all your weapons instantly pin-point converge on whatever your cockpit's line-of-sight is. So even if your left arm is clear and has a direct line-of-sight to the Quickdraw, it is gonna converge onto the invisible wall and hit the invisible wall instead of the Quickdraw.

Back when we had delayed convergence, you literally could sling shots around corners while keeping your CT hidden behind something, by looking off into the distance for a bit, then swinging your arm to the enemy and stepping out a bit, and firing before your convergence could cause your aim point to be on the wall in front of yourself, so your arm weapon would shoot around the corner.

It's a skill-set that's been made impossible now due to instantaneous convergence.
