Russ: "I still really like the game mode idea. But it's only shot at implementation at the moment is with CW and in some epic battle aspect where you bring 4 mechs to the fight, essentially turning the battle into a 48v48 battle of attrition. At the moment it is not in production."

I would run private matches of this. Doesn't have to be with CW. Just that mode 30-45 minutes. With a Battlefield type conquest mode as a bolt on, if available.

But alas, it shouldn't come before CW, and you have a lot on your plate.

I know one life purists may applaud, but I think it would bring a lot of life to the game. Sometimes you wanna blow off steam, stay "in the zone" for more than 15 minutes. Sometimes you want to learn in real time.

I also think, armed with Repair and Rearm, these 4 Mech dropships could be your scouting ships into CW planets.

meh.

Gotta admit, I was never really enamored of respawning under any guise. Though one advantage is it would have pulled most of the CoD kiddies out of the other queues.

Meh.

Instead of Dropship Mode, I'd simply prefer to know which battlefield our dropship was going to (like in a "real" life Battletech conflict) so I can pick the best 'mech for the battle (again, like in "real" life). As I've mentioned before, no commander would send Alpine ski troops to a scorching desert or tanks in a swamp (he may have to, but that happens extremely rarely).

In BT you couldn't just choose "the best mech". Mechwarriors don't own hangars full of mechs.

I actually like long battles. If respawns are the only way to do that i'm happy with them. Imo MWLL was almost perfect.
Oh and i was a BF player, i'd never touch COD B)

The main reason I'd want a dropship mode or some reasonably-explained respawn system is because I'd like to be in matches that last more than, like, 8 minutes. I don't see that really happening outside of a respawn system or making Mechs incredibly more durable.

In MWO, all players own hangars full of 'mechs so in that sense we're like 'mech commanders who can magically inhabit the bodies of whichever pilot we happen to send. B)

I think it would make more sense to suggest that we just play many different pilots. There's no need for magic here, people will start asking to play elves! ;)

Aren't Clanners just reskinned elves anyway? ;)

I get where you are coming from, but IMO, respawning has always led to the masses going to the hero rambo mentality, because, dying has little consequence. True, Dropship has a max of 4 spawns, but I just don't see it actually improving the level of gameplay, unfortunately, in fact, I fear in the large, it would decrease the level. =/

You really like waiting for people to ready up, then waiting for your team (or the enemy team) to hunt down that last Raven THAT MUCH?

Respawn under any name would be an ultimate deal-braker for me, but understand people want it and are disappointed that another vague suggestion slips away.

You realize that you can drop at any time - and you get all the rewards you earned up to that point?

You really think that last Raven is worth THAT MUCH?

Certainly. But it will become worse if people actually don't have to "pay" for their stupidity. And IMO, it will doom communication and any chance of realistic tactics, because people will just want to kill what they can, respawn and go again.

One of the best features of MW, IMO, is you only live once, so to speak. You want to win, well, you dang well better think ahead, cuz dead is dead.

People said the same things about 3PV.

It is if I got a grazing max range laser hit on it, meaning that I could get an assist bonus!

B).

1 assist bonus in 4+ minutes....

Or drop and start a new match and put in several more assists in the same time in a new match. ;)

There could always be some feature of a seperate respawn mode that punishes players who just dive in and die. I've played respawn games for years and my priority has always been staying alive, but i've also seen the run and gun types that just die>respawn>die>respawn, etc. and i always wished there was something that punished players for that, like less rewards every time you die or something.
