A: "Hey, management told us we should bribe players so that they don't realize how screwed the game is right now. Ideas, anyone?"

B: "Great Idea, let's make a few really good sales, gift everyone some MC and make achievements rewarding. Also, let's push up rewards for scouts so people play more light mechs."

C: "How about a day of premium time which automatically activates"

Could someone clarify this?

It activates as soon as you log in , but it doesn't "touch" your banked premium time?

In light of the issues encountered on Tuesday afternoon, we are providing ALL players who have played since Tuesday's patch a free day of active premium time. We will inject it into these players accounts at 3pm Pacifc.

We thank you for your patience and appreciate your continued support.

UPDATE: it will take about 2 hours for the scipt to inject the free premium time into everyone's accounts. Therefore by 5pm pacific everyone should have received it. You will also need to log in and out to receive it.

Russ Bullock
President

This was the correct thing to do, and appreciated. May you NOT have the right reasons to do so again in the future.

Gotta love the corporates, I tell you...

There's a bunch of better gifts to offer players for your miserable game, PGI.

Starting with content...

Reading comprehension ain't your strong suit, is it?

He said that claiming the premium time required a log-in. That's it. Not that you had to claim it AND ACTIVATE IT.

Um, you clearly didn't read what I wrote.

The premium time that was given by Russ is automatically ACTIVATED as soon as you log in. Meaning, once you login, you have that 24 hours of premium time running.

Collecting the premium time does require the logging in. HOWEVER, the PREMIUM TIME IS AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED.

I know how Premium Time is activated. Clearly you didn't bother reading what was written.

See how I have 8 hours of PT left? I logged in @ around 8PM EST.

See how I have 1 day of banked premium time? That was from the 5 matches on the PTS server in which I have collected.

In sum, THE FREE PTS Day you get IS AUTO-ACTIVATED. I did not CHOOSE to activate that time. It was received and activated WHEN I LOGGED IN.

How hard is that to comprehend?

People I have spoken to had realized that... INCLUDING THOSE THAT HAVE NEVER ACTIVATED THEIR BANKED PREMIUM TIME.

Note: Assuming that you've activated premium time before, YOU WOULD KNOW that it would run through ALL THE BANKED TIME you have collected. Since I have 1 day of premium time running (right now) as this post attests to, I STILL have that other day BANKED. Gee, how do you think that's possible?

Uh, thank you.

However having it start without any real warning isn't cool.

If I hadn't noticed I would've wasted this day of premium time on a game or two.. :\

Oh well, heart is in the right place... just seems, again, you're missing on how to communicate this stuff.

Would have liked it to be banked instead of auto-activated, but hey, free PT is free PT

This is the way is done. It was the right apologize, not too much, not too few, just the right amount.

U can also consider to give away a cheap mech with some crazy side-effect (fast, many modules, etc...) in moments like this, but worse (like a 2 days downtime for some reason, or whatever big fail, that, u know, just happens), or to celebrate some special (Chirstmas, X-years coming to release version, etc...).

Those are the sort of things that have kept ppl in WorldOfTanks for so long.

The right gesture in the right moment.

EDIT: But consider this also, cause is completely true

An authentic gesture of goodwill is never too little or too late.

I hope this signifies a new era in your customer relations and communication policy, especially after the event on Reddit on Thursday.

So I couldn't help but notice that the premium day was activated automatically. I think I got four hours' worth of play out of it, if that.

Thanks for nothing, PGI.

Was about to make a complaint about auto activated premium time, but I have some free time today. Might as well make the best of it.

As much as I've complained, I'm not that cynical. Did they try to do the right thing? Sure. Do I appreciate that effort? Yes. Did they do it poorly? Absolutely.
