Mind you, I have see situational ones. Heavy Metal pretty much heralded the age of the Poptart.... but it's hardly alone in that now. Ilya was mean mean mean..... for about a week when UACs were ridiculous. And the DS is currently riding the mid tier meta swing, but before the dual ac5 became "the thing" the DS was roundly ignored as one of the worst Victors.
I have not felt that way with the DS. I thought AT THE TIME it was a poor man's Highlander in an 80 ton mech. That was when 3 PPCs+Gauss on a 732 was "easy mode". At this point, things have changed dramatically (not necessarily the meta) since then.

20 pt FLD is too much now?
Any amount of FLD is too much. Because you get to aim where it goes. The armor values taken from battletech werent designed with aiming in mind.

But this is a shooter. Aiming is a big part of it. And your answer to his question is essentially a non-answer. Even lasers have some amount of FLD.... each laser tick is a fraction of a point of damage. Hell, each AC2 projectile is FLD. Obviously that's not your position that lasers are too much FLD. And I will assume you think AC2 is not too much FLD. So you *do* have a threshold, personally, where you think a certain amount of FLD is OK, but another amount is too much.
It would be far more constructive if you gave a real answer.

I understand that. My point is if aiming was going to be allowed then the armor values from battletech should NOT have been used because battletech doesnt have aiming. MWO shouldve had a different armor distribution that was designed with aiming in mind (i.e. more torso armor).

Not really. When people use the term FLD it specifically refers to weapons that do 10 or more instant damage to a single location. That means AC20, gauss, PPC, AC10, and dual AC5s. Of these weapons its really only the AC20 and PPC that are causing problems, the rest were already nerfed badly.

Obviously. That threshold was established months ago. Its common knowledge what weapons are considered FLD and what weapons arnt.

so in your world a UAC5 is not front load damage. Interesting.
