A long long time ago a Game called Battletech was created and weapon ranger were set.

They still exit as they were set 25+ years ago even in Mechwarrior today.

To the present..

Paul whining about combat being too far and we have to nerf clan ranges.


There is only ONE problem with this.


Paul and PGI need to nerf their own SELF CREATED PROBLEM on this matter.


TT Battletech ; Medium Laser = 270 meter, no more no less.

PGI adds modules to add 20-30 meter range on weapons ( Excellent call and quite acceptable )

PGI adds 2x laser range and 3x ac range (To Paul and PGI! This was a stupidity of your OWN making)

I as a LRM boat pilot am BEYOND SICK AND TIRED of getting killed before getting into and being able to fire a salvo of LRM's at my 1000M MAXIMUM RANGE. WHERE IS MY SRM 3X AND LRM 3X RANGE BONUS?


YOU WANT TO SHOW YOU HAVE GAME CREATION SENSE; PAUL?PGI?

~Bring ALL Ranges to TT LEVELS WHERE THEY SHOULD BE! PAUL stop whining about too far! You and PGI CAUSED too far with 2x 3x Ranges

ALL THIS UP ABOVE IS CALLED REAL WEAPON BALANCING! WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING THE LAST 2 YEARS PLUS IS TRYING REALLY REALLY HARD TO IGNORE THAT YOU WERE AND STILL ARE THE CAUSE OF SAID IMBALANCE AND TOO FAR ISSUES!

BATTLETECH TT TURNS WERE BASED ON A 10 SECOND CYCLE THAT ALL WEAPONS ADHERED TO. You Paul and PGI have tossed this SIMPLE FACT AND CORE PRINCIPLE and wonder after 3 YEARS now still can't figure out HOW TO GET THE WEAPON BALANCE RIGHT... 3 YEARS!!!!! NOW

iTS EASY;

1 - REMOVE YOUR 2X 3X MISMASH OF RANGES ON THE WEAPONS

If you feel that the combat ranges are too close for the maps? Fine (2x range EVERYTHING)

2 - FIX MISSILES; 2X RANGE IN LINE WITH EVERYTHING! REMOVE DOOR STUPIDITIES
10 SECOND DOOR OPEN TIMES! EXTRA CRITS WHEN DOORS ARE OPEN!?! ~KISS~

(WHERE DID THIS USELESS GARBAGE GET ADDED AND WHY BOG DOWN THE GAME WITH EXTRA LAG INDUCING CRAP) ~KISS~

3 - PGI! WAKE UP! Look at MWO as not being your 'BABY'!~ LOOK at MWO with OPEN EYES from where it came from TT Battletech! You have turned it from its Origins to a game with SOOOO MANY garbage house rules that people stopped going to that player/GM's game because it has stopped being ENJOYABLE!

EVERYONE HERE comes to play MWO to have fun and relax after long stressful days not to get stress added because of failed mechanics, toe stubbing and mech stopping cars, etc...

We are here to have FUN and ENJOY something allot of us have been passionate about for nearly 30 years now.

A single 'Mech can easily destroy a city block. A BattleMech's only true equal is another 'Mech—artillery, aircraft, and tanks are disadvantaged against them without BattleMech support or a strong advantage in numbers.

20 years later PGI can't even do the basic of what needs done 3 years ago =

(truly sick of seeing chicken mechs being saved by small trees and tiny wingflaps from damage!)

ADD #2 ; After just having 9 people get dropped in a match (Add A RECONNECT BUTTON, 3 YEARS AND YOU CAN'T FIGURE THAT OUT YET! SERIOUSLY!?!?!)

A bit hard on the eyes the middle of your post is.

Nonetheless, 2x on SRMs should be 540m, LRMs would be 1260m.

Then making SRMs guided like LRMs would be interesting.

OP: The ballistic x3 range thing is being reduced to x2 in the next patch. All weapons will have x2 max limit.

LRMs got a sizeable range boost, without damage falloff.

That said, I wish SSRMs, SRMs, and LRMs would simply go ballistic at max range rather than air burst. I don't know if PGI could make it work, but if they did it'd make them far more interesting.

If you are truly wedded to TT, isn't there MWO: Tactics? That should follow TT rules...

Quoted for truth. Saw the epiphany on Alpine when I was facing off some DF builds at 600m to 800m. Their lasers and AC were doing reduced damage and missing more at that range, and torso twisting spread the damage out nicely. Meanwhile, my LRMs were guided, hitting, and doing full damage at that range, and even with the inherent inaccuracy, I was winning a 2.5-on-1 fight, with direct LOS, in a LRM Boat vs DF builds.

Knowing the various weapons' performance envelopes lets you do some interesting things.

it is a bad thread

weapons need x2 range because of how fast light mechs move. light mechs would be impossible to kill if weapons were limited to only x1 range. you would spend half the match chasing them down and it would be extremely dumb.

SSRM range is 1x too. :huh:

Technically Clan SSRMs should also have more range than IS counterpart.

I do understand how the OP feels tbh. While not everything can be directly taken out of TT and just dropped into MWO there seems to be a lot of times when it feels like PGI have said "How can we transfer this to MWO while making it more complicated or completely changing it?"

Ah yes for all those BOOHOOER CRYBABIES who whine every time Battletech TT (Table Top) is mentioned, just remember This;

If Battletech TT Had not Existed and all those of us at the time who wanted to see this turn into a video game had not supported every single game that came out over the years...
